Does this happen in Gran Turismo or are MS Studios being a bit stingey?

In a way they're probably more generous. It's coming down 6 years after release and Sony took down GT Sport after 7. Flip side being handing the game to those who bought DLC and Sony only maintains licenses for around 2 GT's at most at a time whereas MS has anywhere from 4-5 Forza titles to pay out on. That being said, the delisting of a GT game is a smaller loss given the amount of content carried over game to game compared to Horizon where those maps are gone with the game for new purchasers.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if the Horizon cars and music weren't licensed. Real cars add nothing.

Changes coming to game pass, ultimate is now the only way to get access to day one releases, the console only £8.99/month tier is loosing access to day one stuff meaning if you're on the console plan, and you want to play day one releases you now need to move up to ultimate at £15.99 a month. This second price means Microsoft have effectively doubled the monthly cost of what it cost to keep access to day one releases in the space of a year.

Guessing this is how they were planning to get that Cod/Activision money back.

£16 a month. That would require a brand new game at £60, that's actually worth playing, every four months in order to be anywhere near worth it. I wouldn't even pay that for a Nintendo equivalent.

At this point the penny has to stop spinning in the air and finally drop. MS is planning to milk out a declining user base, Game Pass is absolutely on the slow crawl to it's demise.

I'm also seeing that other places are up in arms over naming and service confusion. Too many tiers doing different things.

Gamers: gamepass is the future wooooo go MS your on fire (when their paying £1 for it)

Gamers at full price: boooooooooo what a waste of money booooooo MS, terrible value.

Make your mind up guys, it’s still the same service you’re getting just a bit more money each month. £16 gets you a sandwich and a drink in London now days, you get to play all those games as much as you want with GPU.

The price was always going to rise.

                        Price change list at https://assets.xboxservices.com/asse...20currency.pdf

UK up to £14.99 (not £15.99 as stated a few posts above )

As someone who gets GPU with reward points (by buying 3 months Core to convert to 50 days GPU), I wonder if I should stack more now haha.

What I'm seeing as a reaction is how they may have just priced themselves out of the market for a lot of people, as the value isn't there any more. Maybe that's the plan push people back into buying the games they want and off relying on gamepass for new games. If you want day one games, You're looking at £180 a year for ultimate now.

Looking at what I was interested in from their day one releases, the only thing that's kept my attention for any length of time over the last year was Hi-Fi rush. They have a patchy history with day one stuff too, Redfall, bombed, Atomic heart bombed, Starfield did ok but wasn't what people expected, Forza horizon yes Forza motorsport no. Looking forward to what's coming, the only day one release I'm excited for is the much delayed Stalker sequel so it would be cheaper for me to drop game pass completely and just buy the game I'm interested in. This would also mean dropping my ability to play online on Xbox too pushing me back towards PC and PS5 for online.

That's ridiculous. I'm not spending that much a year on the Switch currently.

It's cheaper to just buy their games at release, which in itself is a huge gamble given their reputation, as you say.

It’s leaving that sweet spot where I’d get it to play a game for a month that I wouldn’t otherwise buy or try.

I’m sure that’s not the type of consumer MS wants though which is fair enough.

It's monetisation coupled with service throttling. There's no way GP will run indefinitely because the trajectory for Xbox hardware is against them. This way they get to maximise money earned from regular users. By the time the day comes to pull the plug on GP the numbers affected will be so small that everyone else will have been expecting it for years.

Unless you're someone who uses your Xbox daily as a primary console (which we know is a small and declining number) then the best approach to the service is to not be subscribed.

If you just pay for 1 month as when a major title of interest lands you will save a fortune. You'd also be freeing up the money to introduce flexibility, paying for one off months you can bounce from EA Play, Ubisoft+ and Game Pass and effectively play all major releases across the company's saving a fortune with the excess sub time outside of the hours taken to complete the major releases used to catch up on smaller titles of interest. You're not at the mercy of unknown schedules either.

I still have just under 2yrs of GP left but the 1yr I've used up so far... I wouldn't sub for what's been released.
