Marty now owes everyone in this thread a fiver.

Hooray, it's out! I thought it looked great in the reveal trailer I'm so glad it came straight to PS5 too. I'm downloading my copy already.

Also downloading now- looking forward to a good sesh tonight. Just the kind of nostalgic game I'm looking for at the moment.

This game has sentimental value for me. I was totally (ahem) oblivious to this game and the 360 when it first came out. I was working at Sony at the time and someone had this running on a CRT TV. I was in awe and had to get it. I bought the little fudger (with the fan noise of a jumbo jet) on the way home and was playing Oblivion that evening on my very own CRT TV. Great times!

It's a suuuuuper nostalgic game for me too.

I had gotten a 360 a little earlier in the year and then when this came out I was OBSESSED. I spent that whole summer playing the game. The now-cliché moment you exit the sewers really blew my mind.

I remember wandering into the kitchen after a particularly extensive session, and being genuinely confused for a moment why the apples in the fruit bowl on the kitchen table didn't have a tool tip floating next to them detailing their weight and monetary value.

I never played it back in the day. And given that it's really a ten year old game but Skyrim probably improved on everything when it came out five or so years ago, I'm not sure if this would feel like a step backwards if I haven't attached any nostalgia to it. Will it hold up for a first time player even if it looks prettier than it once did, do you think?

Do not correct me on the years.

Hahaha your recounting of the years...love that. It's terrifying this is twenty years old.

Honestly I find it hard to answer your question Dogg. I will be able to answer it better after I play some. But honestly Oblivion is a really fun game with a great world to explore and great quests (especially all of the guild quests).

Skyrim improved combat and level scaling but it wasn't really a quantum leap forward. Now that combat and level scaling have been improved and the graphics updated I personally think you would enjoy this, if you like TES generally.

I thought the character models in the trailer looked brilliant.

The character creation really is on another level

The game feels very modern to play, looks great on the RTX 5090, the odd hitch or two when you're outside running maxed out on ultra with RT and the game did fatal error out at the end of the dungeon section on me, but I suspect I'll be playing more of this.

MartyG What drivers are you on? I`ve gone back to 572.16 as the latest one (576.02) was causing random crashes and the fans to not come on after going to sleep.

I'm on the latest 576.02 - had issues in Assetto Corsa EVO hard locking on exit, but that seemed more game related than driver as others have reported the same.

I've had Oblivion UE5 fatal twice now mind.

That character generator is something else. Jesus christ lmao. I couldn't seem to make a half decent male character so went for a female character instead.

It's been a while since I played the original, and it's more clunky than I remember, but I'm adjusting to it again.

Performance took a hit as soon as I stepped out of the sewers as expected, but it does look good.
