I didn't think Edge had ever sold well? I thought Future used it to gain some credibility in the industry, to be seen as market leaders who could afford to have a dry, specific games magazine that just so happened to look fabulous, and addressed issues most other magazines did not. But hey, what do I know?

And, "do you still buy Edge?" - "Yes, I have every copy!".
I surprised you didn't say "Did you pass your English and Maths GCSEs?"

One thing I did say when asked was that there's more advertising in it now than there ever used to be.
More advertising for crap and industry adverts? Yes
More advertising for shops? Probably at the lowest point that it's ever been...

Im tired of them giving us the free ps2 mag every issue!

It seems to me like they are becoming more biast for the ps2, either that or sony are paying them or something.

I got this call! Funny as ****.

          I can imagine the meeting afterwards;

Future Lady 1: Well, the customer satisfaction survey results are in.
Future Lady 2: 82% percent spat at their telephones until they died of dehydration.
Future Lady 1: We call that group "The Lucky Ones".
          Tony Mott: Oh. Great!

I Love surveys, I didn't get this particular one though. At some point it probably was a prestigious thing for future to have a dry, well designed niche game magazine. Now they have stockholders saying the videogame pie of money is getting bigger yet our slice is staying the same.

I think the amount of people who are fanatical about videogames has maxed out and will not increase even if the mainstream gets bigger (or, if it does, only marginally) Future is probably asking itself whether they want to carry on making an expensive magazine for very little profit.

This is perfectly understandable from a financial point of view, but I don't think they've thought this through. Will turning the mag into a slightly more eloquent version of what's already out there really get them them the profit they crave?

In other words - ?4 is a bit much to pay for a mag that seems to now want to be C&VG with glossy paper...

Huh, I rather like their recent direction. At least I didn't have to refer to a dictionary during their review of Deus Ex:IW, unlike in Billy Hatcher. The review was the only really **** part or rather, rage inducing. Now it is really good, going on last issue.

To be fair, EDGE don't use the videogame maths equation thing. Unlike C&VG then. And also unlike another superb mag we all read.

There are a bunch of things that are really annoying me about Edge right now.

                  1) Their continued "we love it" stance on Manhunt. Its not big and its not clever.

                  2) Another pointless excuse for nudity this issue. If I wanted this attitude from my magazine I'd be reading, well, practically any PS2 mag.

                  3) Another free copy of OPS2M. There is a reason I don't subscribe already, Future, and I certainly don't care for the "magazine" without its sole redeeming feature of a coverdisc.

                  4) More seriously, I just generally find myself disagreeing with more and more reviews, not just in score but in their text. The PGR2 review in particular appeared to be reviewing different a game to the one I know.

I'm still a subscriber because I like the industry news and articles, but I'm not terribly impressed with their opinions any more.

Some of the stuff they put in the mag is interesting... not much but some.

The only saving grace imo is Redeye and AV out these two do good articles about gaming / life and general crap thats good to read.

Oh and in the last issue that dumb cow violet replying in the inbox HAHAHAHA her reply to a bad review someone had given her show in the last issue priceless.
