How close do you sit to the tv screen?

Just wondering when playing games how close do you sit to the tv screen or prefer to sit to the tv screen? I usually play very up close to the tv screen as it brings you into the action alot better. I also tried pgr2 on the main room tv and sat to it from a distance and found myself playing crap and didn`t feel right playing from a distance and took me out of the game sitting that far away. I`m alright with platformers sitting from a distance but i struggle playing a racing game from any distance. How about you folks? Does different distances from a tv screen effect your skills or is it just me?

It depends what you're playing, anything twitchy very close (about 2-3 feet) in my special old pub gaming chair. Adventure games I sit about 8 foot away on the sofa sat next to the dog.

about 2-3 foot away, right infront of it, and at about the same height too.
i've seen people sitting about as far away as the controller will reach, but i could never do it myself, makes me feel too detached.

Hmmm, there's a big difference when I'm playing on my PC or on my PS2. For the pc it'll never be more than 3 or 4 ft, for the ps2, which is hooked up to my telly in the livingroom, I guess it's about 7-9 ft, which is fine, as it is a 32" widescreen. I can still concentrate well enough from that distance.

about 6foot when on my TV in my room, or 8-9 foot when on the main TV(just got a wavebird so i've been sitting even further away)

I sit about the length of the controller away for the 28" TV, so say about 5-6'. Projector i sit about 6-9 foot away from the screen, but obviously its a hell of a lot bigger, relatively about 2-3 times as big as the 28". Anything closer and your periperhal vision cant take in the edges properly.

On a related note, how do people sit? Just there was that kid with DVTs from sitting playing games for a long session. I use a 2-person sofa and range up and down it in different positions (oo-er).

How do i sit? In my room a leather office swivel chair. In the main room a leather recliner chair. You have to be comfortable

I sit around 4-5 foot away on the floor with my back leaning on the sofa. From there my tv just about fills my field of view. 8)

I sit pretty close to the tv, I do play crap the further away I play. Weird. I think its because I got used to playing close from having a 14'' tv when I was younger. I would have to sit close to see whats going on. I play either on the bed, or on the floor in the living room leaning against the couch.

It's weird... my brother will sit as close as possible... usually just 2 feet or so, whereas I sit about 2 and a half metres away. *shrugs* My TV's about 20", btw.
