hi people. i was just wondering how many of you guys have parents who nag you to stop playing games and take your consoles away from you during term time. i love to play but my parents think its something for little children and they wont listen. just wondering if any of you know how to make them let me play whenever i want.

    thanks!

My parents used to take the consoles back in the day
Then when I was a bit older and started buying my own, they bypassed the consoles and used to rob the TV
Nowadays they cant do ****, cos I own everything gaming related in my room and the tv

With regards to them saying things like 'its for kids', I'm getting pissed off with my parents coming into my room, seeing me playing Sonic or Streets of Rage etc. and saying "didnt you play this game when you were about 10, grow up!!". They just dont understand what a timeless classic is

When I was a kid, my mum didn't like me spending hours on my computer, but -years later- conceded that it "kept me out of trouble", as they say.

My mother never has, she just let me play on them for hours

If she did it now, she'd get a GC pad twated off her head

Yea, I do this all the time as a parent 'cos the boys never do **** around the house when they're supposed to (tidy their room, sort the odd bit of washing out, homework). Then they just sit around bored, with nowt to do. This isn't true at all, really, but we all did it, I suppose.

              Little buggers!

                My mother constantly asks

"When are you going to grow out of them" everytime she comes round to my house and sees my consoles and games.

She's been asking that question for about 18 years now!!

Its the opposite for me, if i want to watch sky sometimes ill have to nag, as my mom has a megadrive setup on the main tv downstairs to play Bomberman/sonic/tetris etc.

worst is when i come home from work sometimes shes playing puzzle bobble/bubble bobble on my xbox, sometimes till 11/12 at night, so i dont get to play anything

its more of a conversation piece for my parents and there friends, hes now had a 36" Tv, hes now got an arcade machine(the friends find this insane) hes gone and brought a nice TV and put it on its side(for shmups) etc etc

Given the age of a lot of people here on the site, I wonder how many have children that do the same thing...

My parents never have moaned at me for playing games. Now they realise I can actually write about them and know that I am aiming to begin my career in games-writing, they seem to try and take an interest in what I am playing.

My Mother is addicted to Animal Crossing too! She spends hours on it and has about 2 or 3 villages she wanders around. Gets a bit annoying when I want a quick blast on Ikaruga , but given that she has had to put up with me for over 21 years she has earnt it.

My mom doesn't have a key to my house, so it'd be hard for her to take my games away.

My parents were cool with my gaming. I think the preferred it when I had computers rather than consoles tho, more 'educational'.

Probably the reason I was able to get interested enough to code them for a living.

I was never threatened with having my consoles/computers taken away as I always had top marks at school, so my parents never felt the need to resort to such measures. However, they still found time to keep asking me when I would grow out of it.

It stopped recently though after my mum discovered Taiko No Tatsujin. She was up till 3am playing it one night, and then I caught her sneaking downstairs at 7am the next morning for another go. She loved it so much that she started converting some of her friends, none of whom had never touched a game in their lives

Now she wants to try out DDR... she is a dance teacher by profession

I never got moaned at as I always spent as much time programming stuff as I did playing games. I guess they'd figure it would lead to a career in IT. They were right. It did.
