Not so much about design, just the fact that when he appeared, it probably ranks as one of my favourite game moments... oh, and the picture's crap. Sorry about that.

One of the greatest IMHO just for gob-smackeriness when I first saw it, way back in 1988 (hence my name).

'Metriod Prime' at the very end of 'Metriod Prime' is pretty top-tastic, and a bitch to kill too!

Having tried the Dead Or Alive 2 I was given at the weekend, I certainly won't be nominating that idiot. Oooh, its a flying fat guy who likes to dress up as a moth! I'm mildly disturbed, or something. Even worse than the cheap-ass dragon thing with his stupid flame attack at the end of Tekken 3.

I was really impressed by the effects on the final Soul Calibur battle with Inferno, though, so not all 3D fighters have crap endings.

The boss at the end of Turrican 2 on the C64 was a large, screen-filling robot.

That this sort of thing is normally the reserve of 16-bit machines makes it all the more shocking.

Easily the best last boss was Bowser from Mario World. Mode 7 heaven baby!

Anubis! It was just breathtaking... words can't do it justice (i've tried).
