Tonight on BBC3: Outrageous Fortunes - Nintendo.

Apparently features interviews with Miyamoto, his friends, family, colleagues and, weirdly, the editors of www.miyamotoshrine.com

I'll be watching, or I would if I had a freeview box. Someone said they would tape this program for me a while back. I'm really sorry but I can't remember who that was, but it would help with my dissertation research so please, whoever it was, don't forget!

Thanks for that, I've been looking out for this.

If someone wouldn't mind hosting it I'd be happy to make an Xvid.

EDIT: Xvid, not DivX. I'm not touching DivX with a bargepole.

It'd be great if someone could make it available for download, only thing I get is BBC Prime. I would shout your name in praise.

I'd love to watch this if someone would be kind enough to go through and encode a downloadable vid

Alright guys, well, it's on for an hour so I guess that's probably a 200MB file, not to mention I'll have to rip it first, so it'll probably be tommorow before I get it up (stop snickering at the back).

Did you notice the lack of a Gamecube in Miyamoto's office. He had OOT and Mario World playing in the background, think that was a sign that he doesn't like the way Nintendo games are going, and prefers the previous generations?

My 2p on this...it was pretty much rubbish. The whole premise was bizarre - a collection of essentially unconnected 'bad' things about Nintendo:

                        1. Yamauchi got rich by being a hard-nosed bastard
                        2. Yamauchi isn't like Minoru Arakawa, who's a bit soft
                        3. Nintendo have court cases against them around seizures
                        4. Mario 2 was - gasp - a version of Doki Doki Panic
                        5. Yamauchi has made loads of money. And - get this - he's never even seen the Mariners play.

I'm no fanboy but it just seemed to be a weird attempt to paint Nintendo as some kind of evil empire. There was no actual scandal to expose - apart from (maybe) the seizures - so there was just loads of stuff about how rich and shadowy Yamauchi is. The same facts could probably have been presented as a Money Programme profile of a success story. The final straw were the factual errors ('Zelda : Wind Maker' for one, off the top of my head).

                        A lazy mess

I thought their comments on the Wind Maker were valid

I feel sorry for Libby since axeing Liquid News she is reduced to talking on subjects she has no knowledge or interest in.

Most of it stank like something i just droped into the loo but i still found it entertaining.

"think that was a sign that he doesn't like the way Nintendo games are going, and prefers the previous generations?"

Erm in reality I think it's just that he just doesn't have a Gamecube in his office, simple as that.

Everyone's saying this documentary was awful. Just like Gamestars was awful. Truth is it was actually very interesting, so stop looking down your hardcore gamer noses picking out all these stupid errors.

Yeah Nintendo are responsible for seizures - what a well constructed journalistic viewpoint

Their Japanese headquarters were "sparsely" furnished to say the least!
