How could I forget the medley of all the character music at the ending sequence to Final Fantasy VI (the best FF game by a mile).

    A masterpiece!

Scarily, I think I know which one you mean That's the one I've been looking for... Zazen town, possibly. The coffee shop music was also great.

And as for other music, if anyone can find me the intro music to Forsaken 64 I will pay you in hard cash. The one that starts: "dum, dum, DUM... [long pause]... dum, dum, DUM...".

The thing just doesn't exist on the internet, as far as I can tell. Arse. ft:

            Some of my favourite tunes-

The ending theme from Ico (ICO - You were there) and the instrumental piece that plays after it (Castle in the Mist)

Someone mentioned all of the Jet Set Radio soundtrack and I agree. However ther are some tunes I really like - Thats Enough and Rock It On by Hideki Naganuma and Everybody Jump Around by Richard Jaques.

Someone also mentioned Beyond the Bounds from ZOE2 thats also great.

The Metal Gear Solid 2 main theme still gets the hair on the back of my neck standing up. Other tracks I like from the soundtrack are 003 Russian Soldiers from the Kasatka, 009 Big Shell and 010 Fortune.

The Dragon Roost Island tune from Wind Waker always brings a smile to my face and I love the remixed tune from a LTTP when you fight Phantom Ganon at the Forsaken Fortress.

Both soundtracks from the SC5 games *dancing*

And the first 3 tracks from Gitaroo Man

Those are the ones that come to mind right away

No doubt that the best piece of music in a game is the boss music on FF7.

I would normally answer with something from the last 9/10 years console gaming... (toilet theme from Parappa, Flowers blooming in the church from FFVII etc) but I'm gonna go further back to the stuff I grew up with.

Robocop, ZX Spectrum 128K, menu music
Speedball 2, Atari ST-E, main music after loading the game - funky!
Heimdall, Atari ST, opening theme... very haunting.

I recently downloaded the Amiga version mods of the Heimdall music - gutted! It doesn't even have a tune.

Starfox (Starwing). I loved all the music to that game. Especially the first level and the end credits.

Anyone know if theres a proper OST available on CD?

Ah someone with a similar backgroud to me. I was going to cite Robocop, I had the tune in my head by not the game.

                            I also remember:
                            Bionic Commando
                            LED Storm
and any Maniac's of Noise, Rob Hubbard or David Wittaker stuff

How about Tim Follin's Ghouls n Ghosts Amiga title theme?

I find I listen to game music a whole lot more than normal music nowadays, I think it's just so much more inventive than anything in any music chart. Take Espgaluda for example, I usually loathe dance music with a passion yet the OST to that game kicks serious ass (particularly the Select music and stage 2) Anyways onto some top picks:

Any Turrican OST - Chris Huelsbeck is just a composing god!!!

Gunstar Heroes (Rolling Chaser & Empire The Final Assault) - Funnily
enough though only the arrange tracks, such great tunes

The entire Axelay OST - I know there was a CD released but where to buy it I don't know

Radiant Silvergun (Space Battle Ship 130 33Ki) - when all other epic tunes fail....

OutRun 2 (Shiny World & Night Flight) - as soon as I get a car these will be playing to emulate my very own OutRun experience, class

Soukyugurentai (Stage 4) - well...actually the entire soundtrack but this is the best one

Star Ocean 2 (Rena's Theme) - beats any Final Fantasy tune except....

FFX-2 (Title) - a gorgeous piece of piano music

And an honorary mention to Big Blue on F-Zero GX, the most noisily crowded choon I've ever heard. I'm surprised a melody could be made out from that.

Stunning indeed, like most of the others you mention. I like to add Hitman 2 (too bad I can't get along with the game) and Deus Ex. Got Invisible War today and I hope it maintains the standard set by the previous game.
