Final fantasy 3/6 - The opera

Final Fantasy 8 - Most the soundtrack but Ami and Julia's Piano solo both really stand out

Chrono Cross - The whole soundtrack!! In Particular though, Chromantique, Radical dreamers and the Another worlds overworld theme

My favourite piece of game music is the FFVII intro music, followed by the boss battle music, Aeris's theme, Cosmo Canyon music, and a track called " Hearing the Cry of the Planet". Totally my favourite soundtrack.

        Other favourite tunes:
FFVIII: "Overture" and "finding your way"
FFX: "To Zanarkand" and "Wandering Flame"

Psyvariar Revision: Gluon music is incredible, it perfectly matches the on-screen action

Deus Ex: Title music, Paris Chateau music

        Silent Hill 2: Title music

        ICO: End theme

        Rez: Area 4, 5

        Zelda OOT: Windmill music

I feel I should add a couple more soundtracks that I love!

Silent hill series - all soundtracks, especially Promise

Bujingai level 1 music - sets the tone perfectly for a incredible game

Anything from Chrono Trigger is excellent but particularly Frogs Theme.

I also have a soft spot for the Goldeneye Soundtrack and DKC soundtrack.

Rare and Square make the best soundtracks

                Psyvariar 2: Earth

Zelda - Ocarina of Time: Overworld, and the Ranch.

                Capcom vs SNK 2: London.

King of Fighters 98: Terry's team theme, and Benimaru's team's theme. Fooking awesome I tell thee!

                Fatal Fury 2: Terry's theme.

And is it just me that likes the Burnout 2 music?

Man, I love game music. Got to say that some of the best "None CD " music is from the Super Famicom / SNES. Here's my favs'

Technosoft - Anything from their Mega Drive games plus Thunder Force V on the Saturn.

Most RPGs on the Super Famicom had wonderful soundtracks. Also can't beat the music from Hebereki No Popun

Shenmue 1 - beautiful music that set the feeling of the game !

Bare Knuckle 2 - Yuzo Koshiro made what was already great in the 1st game even better. Just a shame he ****ed up big time with Bare Knuckle 3.

Daytona USA - Come on, you know it's class!!

80's Arcade music such as Out Run, Power Drift, Afterburner, Quartet, Gradius, Space Harrier and so on.

                  Yakumo

The thing just doesn't exist on the internet, as far as I can tell. Arse. ft:
Someone with an xbox(& optical cable) running Surreal64 should be able to get you a perfect digital copy of that no problem, I`d do an analogue->mp3 for you but I don`t have a suitable cable here ATM.

                      Excellent topic.

                      My personal favourites:
                      1) Final Fantasy 7 - Aerith's Theme
                      2) Final Fantasy X - opening theme (a.k.a. "To Zanarkand")
                      3) Chrono Cross - the whole damn soundtrack
                      4) Nights - Splash Garden (any variation; they all kick ass)
                      5) Guilty Gear X - Dizzy

Ghouls N Ghosts on the Amiga. Having sold my Amiga years ago, I downloaded WINUAE recently. After many hours of fiddling, I finally got Ghouls and Ghosts to work. The whole soundtrack is truly stunning. Mr Follins finest.

Of the recents generation, Skies of Arcadia on the DC (not the tinny GC version) had some majestic sweeping themes. I also loved Sonic Adventure's soundtrack.

I can't really add much here but,

And as for other music, if anyone can find me the intro music to Forsaken 64 I will pay you in hard cash. The one that starts: "dum, dum, DUM... [long pause]... dum, dum, DUM...".
Tig, I know EXACTLY what your talking about here, was a great beat to the stage. I had the PC version, pretty sure you can find out by getting a cheap copy from somewhere.

Metroid Prime's 'Drifts, 1st level of Bare Knuckle, some of Einhanders stuff & of course Final Fight CD.

Like most people here I buy, collect and enjoy game music soundtracks.

I've got a **** loads but my personal favourites that I own (that I can never get bored of) are these...

Actraiser Symphonic Suite - This is one of the first Super Famicom games to come out and it's roughly 15 years old but the music in this game puts most game music nowadays to shame.
The Star Wars like music was really in a class of it's on for it's time.

I think this is my all time favourite, I have fond memories of this game and it's music and I would like to hear from people who disagree with me that this isn't a great soundtrack...

Mario and Zelda Big Band Live - Absolutely awesome orchestral music inspired from the Nintendo Mario and Zelda games.
One of the rare soundtracks that brings out a smile in me when I listen to it, (all the time!)

I also own the Mario and Zelda Big Band Live DVD too which is really cool!

Equinox on the SNES had an incredibly ambience and atmosphere, I think it was Tim Follin who`s responsible for it, but I`m not to sure about that...

Ecco The Dolphin on the Mega CD is incredible too...

FF3/6 and the intro to FFX is also great though.

                              IMO

Off the top of my head, my favourite is probably Sakura's music in Street Fighter Zero(Alpha) 2-I actually purposely lose the second round so I can hear it for longer
