Because the PS2 version will probably be **** (compared to the original arcade)? And I can play it NOW?

It's like the whole "Why the **** do you import games when you can play it in English and for cheaper when it comes out on PAL" argument. It holds NO water.

How the **** do you know if the PS2 version will be ****? You do realise that it's a 4 player game that needs 4 cabs and 4 sets of controls? Are you going to wire all that **** yourself? You do know that arcade games have dick in the way of options but the PS2 one will have better AI, more modes, training options etc?

I've played Dolphin Blue, Demolish Fist etc and they are complete ass.

Reality check please. Get your ****ing head examined whilst you're at it. I'm saying this for your own good, you'll thank me later.

I don't know the PS2 version will be ****. Heck, neither do you. It may never even make the system. It looks cool NOW, and I'd like to play it NOW.

Plus, a home version can never match up to the 'fun' of trying to make my own cabinet tbh.

It is coming to PS2 and judging by the GGXX and GGXX#R ports it will be arcade perfect (the graphics are inferior to other games in the series to accomodate 4 player sprites). It will also have 3 extra characters. If you want to pay over ?500 just to play this game then be my guest. You could buy a plane ticket to Japan for that sort of money and then play the games there with real people as opposed to AI. I guess we have very different priorities.

You can try making your own cabinet but that strikes me as a waste of time and money.

It holds some water when the price is so high.

The Atomiswave hardware is interesting, but I'd wait until there were a few more decent games for the platform. Wait and see how the Playmore stuff pans out. The prices should drop a little, too.

If I was to buy an arcade system board right now, I'd probably go for Naomi 2. There are just so many games for it.

Aye, Naomi 2 is the way to go. AND it runs all the old Naomi games which go for about ?40 nowadays.

I'm glad I got over the OMGOMG LETS BUY ARCADE HARDWARE thing I went through last week, else I'd be **** out of money.

If someone wants to run a business promoting and supporting Atomiswave/Naomi as a "luxury" home console and supplying control/power only Superguns, then be my guest. I'd buy from you.

I believe you can buy the kits direct from Sammy - Europe.

Prices are relatively the same but the savings are made on postage.

Sammy Europe will not sell to you in anything less than bulk buys of ten. They are manufacturers.

You need to get one through a distributor like Deith Group who will take their cut. Sammy said Dolphin Blue kits were sold out last week, and I doubt they have Isuka in for Europe yet. You could try though.

You know you're probably right its a **** load of money when you think about it. Even if you plan to sell the cart on in a few months the initial outlay is huge.

As for all the extra **** you get with the home ports, it's not always a good thing imo. Take a look at the sega ages VR thread as a case in point. All peeps really want is a pixel perfect version of the arcade original instead they get jaggies and some crappy reflection effect with a couple of extra courses thrown in for good measure.

It's a problem now that arcade hardware are essentially souped up home consoles. To be honest the whole subject is a can of worms right from emulators to blowing your wad on a Naomi 2.

However, if I had the money laying around I'd love to buy a proper cab set up. It somehow feels right when you stand there side by side with a mate shooting things or beating **** up on a screen that is 18 inches from your face.

Personally I do not own the Atomiswave , Ive heard varying reports on the quality of the games so Ive sidestepped it .
It would make sense for Sammy-europe to do trade business only.Just someone mentioned to me that they enquired about the Atomiswave and was patched through to sales and purchased a Dolphin Blue set.
Possibly it was a single unit or bulk buy , I never got the complete story.

Possibly Sammy have taken the same approach as Cave have in Japan.Supplying consumers directly with boards.

On the Naomi front you can build nice collection with older boards ,usually these can be purchased for under ?40.Then again the likes of Zero Gunner 2 ,Power Smash 2,VF4 evo (rom) will still set you back a bit.
New titles are likely to be GD-ROM based and thankfully after time will depreciate more rapidly.

From my experience Naomi(2) prices can range from ?5 - ?500 ( software only).
