Any idea what the battery life is like yet?

Surely the whole thing of having to constantly access the disc means that battery life is bound to be limited and probably substantially less than a SP.

What a duff presentation, it was as though they expected the look of the thing to sell itself.

90% of the games shown were of existing franchises, which gives fodder to the doom-mongers who fear that PSP will become little more than a PSOne&2 porting machine. Killing time by showing cinema trailers and music videos on it was frustrating and cynical, actually no........showing a trailer of Advent Children justified by 'this will appear on PSP' that was cynical.

It is a sleek device, but playing one of these on the bus or train and you'd be in constant fear of being scoped out by thiefing scum, plus as others have mentioned it's very much a 'lifestyle' device to be treated with kids gloves ( not necessarily a weakness, but gamers just want to throw something in their bag to transport, they would have to be far more careful with this ).

Here are some pics from Gamespot showing the device in a, er, slightly less flattering light.

I thought one of the P's was supposed to stand for portable? That thing is huge for a handheld device. And it is far too wide. And the Playstation D-pad has never been up to snuff. Oh dear. Methinks Nintendo have grasped this particular cherry with both hands.

In fairness Saur has recently posted this image in another thread:

Not sure of the pictures authenticity, but I doubt Sony (a leader in portable stuff for years) would make something as big as Biscuits image.

            @ those Gamespot pictures

I'd read somewhere else that the one produced at the show looked like it had been given a rough time

Maybe they're using E3 as a durability test

On a similar note, it just seems to me that the screen should have some kind of protector on it to avoid accidental scratches / damage

Might not be an issue for everyone though as I'm a clumsy bast

Biscuit's pics = PSP as demonstrated by Jimmy Krankie.
Saur's pic = PSP as demonstrated by Dave Prowse.

I dont like the look of it and it seems too shallow to get a grip on. Also half the battle with mobile gaming is storeing the thing when you are not playing. My SP fits nicely in my jeans pocket, jacket pocket etc.

You would need some kind of handbag affair to keep the PSP.

I will reserve judgement till I get my hands on one, but I am not impressed.

Is it me, or does the back of "Saur's" image, look like the PSP has a USB socket.

I haven't read the rest of this thread, but I saw that pic and thought! That could be interesting!

I certainly hope it isn't as big as some of these pics make it look!

Also: Mono sound output? It better have a headphone socket then!

The addition of a 'home' button makes me think that the PSP might be for more than games and a bit of video/music. Internet funciontality maybe? The size might be forgiven if it was basically a games-playing palmtop. Maybe.
