Thanks for the impressions Pete . Operation Flashpoint sounds great. I agree, one of the best games of the past few years, but my PC was never quite up to the task of running it.

Graphics are similar to the 3 year old PC version, but slightly cleaner and the animation of characters is more realistic. Movement is also improved, feeling less jerky than the PC version.
thanks Pete! have they announced a release date for Operation Flashpoint yet?

i still can't believe that there wasn't any sign of Perfect Dark Zero! i thought Rare wanted to officially present it this year!?

        My thoughts -

        1) PSP is a more powerful beast than DS but seems pretty pointless to me, and the DS seems the more exciting.

        2) I haven't got enough money for all the GC games coming this year and next. How do you people do it?

        3) Paper Mario 2 seems Game of Show for Cube to me, and Odama and DK Jungle Beat as Most Unique and fun.

          No Nintendo bias there then?

          1) Pointless? Apart from opening up a whole new catalogue of games. The GBA has its place, the PSP crosses over into GBA ground and takes the handheld format forwards.
The niche features of the PSP are just that, niche, as is dual screens and WiFi.
The pro-Nintendo stance of some here gets a little tiring after a while.

I'm not showing pro Nintendo bias. It may sound that way to the lazy as I only own a Gamecube, therefore I have an interest in Gamecube titles.

My comments towards the admittedly sexy looking (when in GT White) PSP were against the DS. As a replacement for the GBA, if you have the money, then fantastic! But I do not own a GBA due to lack of interest, therefore if I was to bother getting into the handheld market it would be for something different, not an enhancement of something I already could have bought. That is why the DS seems more interesting to me.

The PSP's movie and music playback do not interest me as I am starting to lose interest in owning my own copy of movies (they'll be on tv or in the video shop if desperate) and my current meh attitude towards music.

PSP was very exciting. I cant wait to get my hands on it. Imagine Pro Evol and Devil May Cry on the go

Before E3 I was only really looking forward to GT4. After E3 I am only really looking forward to GT4. I'm not too fussed with the new handhelds. I really don't like the look of Advance Wars on GC, I wish they could have made a bigger version of what was already on GBA. The new style Zelda makes me feel sad.

*sigh*, maybe I'll go look at the shots of Spikeout Battle Street to cheer myself up, that's laugh-out-loud funny if ever I saw it.

I've just watched the Sony Conference (yes, I did manage to stay awake for the whole of it) and it was a big disappointment. The PSP looks like a great bit of kit, but it's just so boring. The montage of game footage looked pathetic, poor PS2 ports abound. The only thing that raised a flicker of excitement was seeing ridge racer, and of course the prospect of pro evo on the move is tasty.

There was a distinct lack of passion and enthusiasm, especially compared to the Nintendo Conference

Agree completely with MonkeySteve fella above me. ^^

Whilst Nintendo's conference seemed to have an understanding and enthusiasm about how important the GAMES actually are (and the precedent was set from minute 1 with an abundance of game footage throughout) Sony spent the first 25 minutes spouting some boring **** about sales figures and casual gamers, all topped off with a succession of dull and predictable pie and bar charts.

                    What were they thinking?

However, saying that of th PSP and DS the machine that gets me the most excited is easily Sony's. I wasn't enamoured by the design at first (Atari Lynx Mk 3 was my first thought on viewing it) but after having seen the size of it in comaprison to GBA, the size of the screen and the lush GT White version I have grown fonder of the design. However, it was the display of games due for the machine that got me excited. Seeing Vampire Chronicle (great game but how and why spring to mind), Gran Turismo (looked fantastic for a handheld title) and Ridge Racer get me genuinely excited about the machine.

Not one DS title did it for me. I'm sure many will be good games but I am not eager to play any as it seems few (if any) sem to be as revolutionary as the rumours had me believe, nor do they seem to be taking full advantage of what the machine can offer (I am certain that this WILL change in the near future) but at the moment, too many games seemed to use the 2nd screen as a map which is pathetic really.

I hope the machine doesn't prove to be having 2 screens just for the sake of it and that it does genuinely offer new gaming experiences.

                    Other stuff from the show.

The Devil May Cry 3 trailer was the star of the show. Seems the developers this time have grasped what made the first game great and can't wait to get my hands on this.

As mentioned above, seeing a new (or possibly old if it is simply Vampire Chronicle) Vampire game on the PSP left me dumbstruck. Hope it works in handheld form (and that the clarity of the PSP screen is bold enough to do justice to arguably Capcom's most stylistic artwork and characters ever).

New Zelda trailer was marvelously put together. I always supported the Cel-shading graphic approach to Wind Waker but that doesn't mean I want that style for Link from now until eternity. I have every faith that Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto will not disappoint on this.

Seeing Halo 2 in action again is always a pleasure. An actual demonstration of the proper game in action is 100 times more impressive than mocked up screenshots taken at the most dramatic (read - gameplay impossible) angle and captured at impossibly high resolutions ever can be.

Finally, seeing OutRun2 in action. Proably the game to get me to resubscribe to Xbox Live.
