Once the disc image mounts copy vlc.app to /Applications and from that folder drag it onto the Dock

The latest version runs great with 10.3.3 but I dunno about other versions of OSX

When it comes to the Windows version DON'T use the installer... just download the zip package and make your own Start Menu shortcuts.

DA, I direct linked you to the Windows one on the site so I think that the link is fine. Maybe try an older version or something?
