    I reckon it will run really well on ATI hardware. John Carmack initially built the game around that technology, so it should run best on it.

    I have a feeling Doom3 will be a really stable game on all hardware. ID usually make well coded games and they have had enough time to iron the bugs.

      I agree to a certain extent, but there is a fair chance ID will be "Encouraging" hardware upgrades...

      I think it would be prudent to actually wait and see how the game runs on older hardware (Such as Radeon 9800 Pro's), before running out and buying X800 XT PE's... etc.

      Unless you are a made of money, in which case, get the best card you can, every 6 months or so.

      (And sell me your cast offs!)

        As soon as I can get my hands on a x800Pro XT I will be. I hate lag on my PC games Does anyone know when they are out, or if they are out where I can get one because I certainly can't find any for sale.

        I am guessing on this game will run fine with a 9800 Pro on full settings at 1024*768, well it better until I can get my x800

          I'd trust a PC Gamer review about as far as a used car salesman smeared in vaseline for added slippiness.

          Particularly when it comes to a game with 'pedigree' and reviewed early. Does the cover say 'exclusive review' by any chance. Or even worse... 'world exclusive review'.

          Still - I'll be picking it up regardless. How could anyone who was gaming at the time of Wolfenstein and Doom's 1 and 2 not?

            I don't trust any review, regardless of the source.

            I have firm faith in iD, however.

                I've signed it. This was what I added to the comments:

                "It's a game. FFS, you let people have real guns in their homes under your constitution - you really think a game does more harm than a real bullet? Get some ****ing perspective"

                    From Gamespot.... not the offical one's but maybe a guide..

                    In a recent interview with the Houston Chronicle, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead revealed the minimum system requirements for the just-weeks-away DOOM 3 for the PC:

                    * A 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500
                    * 384 MB RAM
                    * 2 GB hard disk space
                    * An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better

                    While these are not official requirements as announced by publisher Activision -- such final specs are often decided as a result of post-production testing -- they should provide a good idea of what sort of rig you'll want to have to properly enjoy id's latest. With technology showcases like DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2 on the horizon, many PC gaming fans have already been upgrading their systems.

                    Still, if you're the owner of an old 486 just barely good enough to eek out email access and unable to afford a Falcon PC, perhaps the Xbox version of DOOM 3 will be the choice for you. Either way, goodness is coming. Believe us: we're excited too.

                          I love the fact that one of the entires on that petition to get Doom3 banned reads:

                          "Which Video card will run the game better ATI X800 XT or Nvidia 6800 Ultra?"

                            the best reply i found was this one...;

                            "If Doom 3 is released God will finger his anus to make us die"

                              There are some really weird people

                              "ABORTIONS ARE COOL BECAUSE THERE'S TOO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET. I LIKE BALLOONS, THEY TURN ME ON." - someone on that petition.
