I'd heard rumours that the 6800 range runs hot anyway, so I decided to go with Leadtek because their cooling solutions are usually better than stock. Not that it's being tested right now anyway because my room's so stuffy and humid, I've got the side of the case off, and a big house-fan blowing into it.
With that in mind, the Leadtek card run at about 62?c after an hour of Doom 3/Farcry, which I think is pretty acceptable, especially when I'm slowly overclocking it.

mine run around 55 dgrees idle which is not too bad given the heat. Reaches about 58 when overclocked.
Under load I havent been able to get any reasonable results but I think its in the mid to high 60s.
Apparently the max temp a 6800 can handle is 100 degrees. I find that rather unbelievable but I've seen it said in a few places.

100?c max temperature? That seems a little odd (and worrying), as the core slowdown threshhold is 120?c. My idle temp is high 40's, and full load is high 60's... but as mentioned this is with a fan blowing into the casing, I wouldn't be surprised if it was getting up toward the high 70's without the extra ventilation.
Hmmm.
I guess I worry about melting the card since it cost me a fair bit of money, and don't want to break it!
