Best option for outputting progressive scan on X-Box?

Yes, it wont display the 480p, 720p and 1080i options if it doesn't detect the Hi-Def cable.

By 'hi-def cable' do you mean the official one from MS, or any component cable, such as this one?

On a separate note, and it may be a dumb question, but is progressive scan DVD output dependant on the DVD's region (e.g. will a region 2 DVD playing on PAL X-Box switched to NTSC output progressive scan or will it only work with region 1)?

I'd assume any component cable, but I'm not 100%.

Any region DVD will play on a PAL Xbox in NTSC video mode (as long as you've done the multi-region hack of course).

They'll play exactly the same way as they would in PAL60 mode, ie 60Hz.

Thats weird, I've got The Thing and True Crime on my hard drive which are very stuttery unless I switch back to PAL. Are they 50hz games then?

yeah, dont know what it could be but all my other games are ntsc and play fine so Im not too bothered......
