I've just noticed on the Unbeatable.co.uk website that the Panny Series 7 has been added, and they're now doing a 37" model as well as the usual 42". So my guess is that'll be the best one, given how much everyone goes on about the Series 6.

Still only 852x480 resolution, mind you.

Thanks again for all your help guys, it's much appreciated and I will let you know how it goes. It's looking like the Panasonic is the one

Gizze, no mate - precisely my line of thinking too. I have NTL for my cable TV, which can just be connected to a monitor style plasma rather than a TV plasma. Don't need a TV tuner unit in the plasma at all, just a waste of money. And that's too true about the speakers - they're bound to be poor quality compared to a hi-fi separates system, which is what my NTL currently plays through, so yeah - why pay for a TV tuner and speakers when all I need is just a nice monitor style plasma. Plus, it's all about having a nice symmetrical design - the plasma, surrounded by a nice thin border all round, not having two long vertical speaker grilles up each side, IMO

That reminded my to check the panel res. of the Hitachi I have - it's 1024x852 on the 32" model. 42" is a nice 1024x1024 square

When buying plasmas something to remeber is an SD (480 lines) monitor will look better with TV and DVD, and a HD (1024 or 768lines) monitor will look better with High Definition stuff, something to bear in mind.
Buy the time HD is up and running properly there will be very good reasons not to own any of the plasmas that are about now.
