Great, glad you got them working. Yeah, the emulators are very new. I guess after a while they're bit optimized....

So I used DVD43 and Handbrake to copy a movie which is about 1hr20mins long and it took bloody ages - like 8 hours >_< It plays in iTunes but wouldn't let me drag it into my iTouch. I right clicked and it had an option to convert it for iPod which is also taking bloody ages - probably another 8 hours.

Does this sound right to you guys? Its about 800MB.

Does seem to be slow. Really depends, i don't use handbrake. What was the resolution, how may passes did it do on the film. Also, the speed of your cpu, etc..

A 2hr film would take me, (after ripping the dvd to hdd) about a hour and half one pass simple (1hour turbo!). Double up if you want two-pass... In xvid4psp, but i have to add a hour for manually converting the vob-files to avi in FlaskMeg. Seems a bit time wasting i know, but i might want to choose the right language or subtitles if needed...

I seem to have the other strange thing that happens. The odd video, i convert won't play in iTunes, looks white in the display, but plays fine on my touch...

          Passes?

I'm using a laptop so no doubt the cpu speed is pretty lame...I'll probably just use the computer at work then as thats bound to be faster. Ta!

Passes, with video encoding you can do more than one pass on a video. One pass will guess the best route to an encoded end, with the allowed bit-rate. Two-pass will gather information on the first pass, in a file. Then use that that make the the final second pass, better. For an ipod touch though...

Just downloaded HandBrake (windows). Not sure if your on a Mac ? The setting for passes and video bit-rate are here. Under video settings. So you can disable 2-pass or alter the bit-rate, etc...

            Hope this helps...

Is there anyway on an iPod classic to skip to a certain time? For example, a 1 hour podcast that I just wanted to skip to 45 mins in? Seems a simple feature but I can't find it!

click the middle button a couple of times to scroll between volume, time, rating etc. When on time just use the circle bit to forward to required point.

I've even had that up by mistake, didn't realise that's what they all did.

SuperNige to the rescue, cheers mate.

Daft iPod newb question coming atcha!

If I pick up a 16Gb iPod Touch in Japan will I have any problems running it over here in Blighty?

They appear to be a fair bit cheaper from a quick search on the 'net.

                          You shouldn't have any bother.

Your only problem might be picking one up. I heard that the 16Gb is sold out right now.
