Don't know if this is just me, but the nano seems to go louder than my 30GB iPod photo, it also has a sticker on the back in French and German saying that prolonged listening at high volumes can damage your hearing. So perhaps they ditched the cap and just stuck a (incredibly annoying) sticker on the back.

Most people have been saying this too. I've not done a direct comparison, but it seems to be louder than my Shuffle as well. Unfortunately it can be a bit too loud for me sometimes, even at its lowest setting. (where there's no visible bars)

As for the sticker; it came off mine with a bit of difficulty, but the sticky marks came off no problem. I just stuck it back on the sticky parts and peeled it off. (I'm sure you know what I mean)

Yup, definitely seems louder to me. Maybe they didnt have time to cap the volume as it released worldwide at the same time. Sound quality is better than my 3rd gen model too.

Yeah, the sound quality should be much better. I'd be interested to see how it compares to the shuffle, which has the best quality out of any of the other iPods. I'd guess slightly worse, as it has to power a screen etc.

The new 'buds are a big improvement over the shuffle's though, which were already a huge improvement over the old ones.

They're not as "bright" and have a much better bass response. They're a lot less fatiguing as well; just better sound in general.

Apparantly the Nano sounds better than the shuffle!

Mine is out for delivery now!

Anyone know where I can get a dock and the tubes in stock?

Sound quality wise, it has the same audio codec chip as the 4G and Photo, so the fact it sounds slightly better than the Mini makes sense (which had the codec out of the 3G).

It fits in old docks Unlighty, do you have a dock from a previous iPod?

Nope, would it be better to just pick up any old dock then on ebay rather than wait a month or whatever stupid timeframe apple are shipping them under?

Pick up an iPod mini dock, the nano comes with an adapter that fits into the mini dock to allow the nano to sit snugly.

Grrrr - my iPod might be dying.... :-(

It no longer seems to want to sync with my PC, and says it needs to be re-formatted.

Then the iPod updater doesn't even recognise it so can't reformat/re-copy all my stuff across!

Anyone experience this? any ideas/suggestions?? (apart from buying a new one!)

I had this, It seemed to sort itself out when it was plugged in and I held menu and centre button. It then accepted the re-format but unfortunately I don't know why it worked... Now though it only works with USB and not firewire... think its cos the batteries are ****...

My iPod gets a little silly sometimes too. listening to a song it freezes for no apparent reason and i have to reset it! happened a few times too!

also under settings-about on the iPod, it says space left 17.3gb, whereas it should only be about 2gb, any ideas how to rectify this problem?

While they said it was weeks away, I placed an order of a Nano dock along with some other products and it came within 3 days.

(took the pic when my new stuff arrived; hadn't tidied up then)
