In all honesty, iTunes is a load of ****e and completley non-user friendly. Anyone recommend a different program to transfer to my iPod?

    Cheers, Mark.
    That's exactly how I felt :P

I used Ephpod - lets you drag and drop from explorer, rename a batches of mp3's easily, etc.

I found it a doddle whereby all previously downloaded music is automatically mirrored on your iPod everytime you connect.

Are you doing something wrong and have you loaded all of the supplied software? It should be the case that is does it automatically for you.

Try it again and let me know how you get on.

With the Mini, many/most people will find they can't fit their entire library on. So you just go into the "iPod" pane of iTunes Preferences, and select which playlists you want transferred to the machine. You can also choose to manually select each track you want transferred by ticking or unticking it, but I'd have thought that a lot more hassle; I use the smart playlist feature to pick some random stuff, and add in anything specific I want with some additional manual playlists.

I managed to sell my 20gig 3rd gen for ?170 So, ive got a couple of questions...
1 - What are most peoples opinions on the iPod photo? Any good?
2 - On the refurb store, what sort of price could I get one of these for?

I like the idea of having my photos with my music, and it probably works out equivalently priced to the 20gig regular iPod I guess. Any comments on the photo would be greatly appreciated.

The Ipod photo is a great piece of kit, the photo aspect of it is a little gimmicky, but it has a lovely screen!

Refurb store - probably about 20% off list price. However you could import one from the US and it would work out a lot cheaper!

yeah, i noticed a US 60gig photo is the same price as a UK 30gig! Any ideas where I can import from mate? My Dad pretty much lives in the States, but he kind of bought me my 20gig as a present last christmas, so I'm not too keen on asking him to send one over

to the person wondering about a 30G or 60G photo - buy a 40G photo if you can find one cheaply.

I got mine from John Lewis for £260, which is only a little more than the new 30G. Plus it comes jam-packed with accessories, which the 30G and (new) 60G don't.

                - firewire and USB cables (new ones only come with USB)
                - AC adapter
                - Dock
                - Hard case
                - AV Cables to connect to your TV or stereo from the dock.

I wanted mine able to connect to the stereo upstairs, so I'd have needed the dock and cable anyway, which cost about £40 separately.

Doesn't the old 40Gb have a lower battery life than the new ones?

                    Nope! Same battery life.

By the way, ebay is a great bet if you can find a reliable seller - will pm you now

Just bought a 40GIG 4th gen off ebay for ?130 including postage...

I'm rather happy, put it that way.

Anyone recommend me a decent pair or earphone/headphones that don't fall out when running? Used to use some Sony EX71s with my 4G Clickwheel and they were quite good but couldn't hack the winter.

I've since switched to a shuffle for it's size/weight but can't settle on a decent, lightweight set of headphones. Recently tried some Sony clip-on ones but they feel clunky and fall-out when I go up or down hills.

I'm not against ones with a neckband, just as long as they're not massive and heavy. Looking around, Aiwa HP-JS35 seem well recommended on Amazon (US) but can't find them anywhere to buy over here. Any ideas?

I'm using the Phillips "Nike" branded headphones for running with my Ipod Mini.

They don't have any foam so they don't end up wringing wet - which is nioce, and the cord runs from the back of the neckbamnd so it doesn't get in your way. I wear glasses as well and they still fit perfectly. Worth ?20 in my opinion.

I get on just fine with those Nike ones as well. I don't think the sound quality is quite as good as the better in-ear ones, but they're way more comfortable. It just seems a tad daft buying a tiny little iPod Mini, and then carting these huge headphones around with it is the only other problem.

                                Quick iTunes question:

I’ve just purchased an ipod photo (which has yet to arrive) and one of the key features I’m hoping to make use of is the album cover art facility. Now I’ve never used iTunes before but I assume that when you’re converting your own CDs into MP3s iTunes logs onto the internet and detects which CD you have inserted (like Windows Media Player does) and downloads artist, album and track details. When it does this, does it also download the album cover art? I noticed on the Apple site that album cover art is downloaded when you buy an entire album from the iTunes site – nothing is mentioned about converting your own albums and getting the cover artwork.
