Also I don't own an Xbox so I can't say for sure, but,
How would that be possible? They both use the same scan rate.

Sorry to reawaken this thread.
Is anyone able to tell me where to find a "official HD kit" that Mid referred to earlier in this thread. I assume that they aren't sold with the PAL Xbox.
I am looking to use a component connection to my TV in order to take advantage of progressive scan (via a modded Xbox).

dan, that one does do component but you'd need a seperate component to component cable.
For the official Microsoft all in one component cable, see here:http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...ducts_id=2985&
EDIT: It's not an official cable and it doesn't do digitl audio, sorry.Last edited by Pikman; 10-11-2004, 14:54.

Ahhh, now I'm a bit confused (often the case). If I use the high-def kit, I'll be able to use the optical out jack, but I'll need to buy an extra component to component cable.
However, if I use the all-in-one component cable, how do I use digital audio. Does the Xbox not have an optical out on the back, as is the case with PS2?

No, the only way to get digital audio from an Xbox is via the signal out port.
That M$ Hi-Def pack is more or less a box of sockets but you need to buy seperate cables for it, so you'd require a seperate optical cable and a component cable. The advantage being you can decide on the quality and cost of the cables you use.
I know of no cable that outputs progressive scan and digital audio without the need to buy an extra optical cable. Your best bet is maybe to get the new Microsoft all-in-one component cable and then plug any old optical cable into it - you can get optical cables for a fiver on eBay.
For a bit more info have a look at this thread here: http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=30799
