    Major problem with san andreas

okay, im on the mission drive-by, quite near the beginning and i cant do it. not because it's too hard but the game keeps messing up. i ddrive down the road, and then you will start to see all the graphics go..crap. low quality. sometimes it wont show any buildings or detail to anything. and the the music crashes and keeps looping 'sonds' over and over, and then it freezes with the sound looping over. it's done this about 10 or so times. help me. Our playstation is less than a year old. could it be a dirty lens? the game seems to be okay, not really any scratches.

please help, cos i really wanna play some more of this.!thanks.

Definitely sounds like the PS2 and not the disc.

    Time to buy another one.

yeah sounds like the drive is having problems streaming all the data, have you ever had it say Disc Read Error when you start it up?

Whilst playing it i had a message saying error reading discs. it has started to do this more frequently as when we bought it, this never happened for the first few days or so. Could it have anyhting to do that we got the playstation chipped in pakistan so it can play opied games?

Iv'e changed the texture mapping to smooth and disc speed too fast, if anythign i think it will make it more unstable...but you never know.

        cheers for your help.

Those options only apply to PS1 games.

Probably because you got it chipped in Pakistan; you were asking for trouble!

OKay. If it is the chip, how would we go about of taking it apart and taking out/ undoing the chip? a faq with pictures would be useful

              Thanks

As others have said the error you refer to point to a disc read error.
                Replace the game.
If it continues with another copy your PS2 is probably to blame.

Given the game boots OK, I doubt the chip has any effect on this issue. Poor fitting however may have damaged your drive.

ok, the game does not boot at all now. however, other games still run fine. Is it still likely to be a faulty copy of the game? Is it possibly a dirty lense, how would I remedy that?

Return the game saying it's faulty. Try another copy. I'm sure I said this already. :P

I also forgot to mention that since we got it chipped, it doesn't play any DVD films of any kind. we will take the game back and try another one and see what happens.

You have to boot the machine differently sometimes to play DVD's.

What chip is it? If it's a messiah2 try holding the power button on the front of the machine down until the eject light comes on.

OKay, i just tried holding down the power button with a DVD in it and it played the film fine wiht colour and sound.

I forgot to mention, but my brother brought the playstation 2 home today so we an play san andreas, but whilst he had it and played it in london, he never had any problems with it. we checked the game, it has some...wierd markings on it. could this be from whn my bro left the game inside the ps2 and brought it home. I suppose it must be.

                          thanks for your help yashiro!

its not ****ed its just the proportion of the total amount of discs that have been sold.
