Ummm... Mail Plane for Vectrex? A couple of copies sneaked in the last days of the system's life, I think. And when I say a couple of copies, I really do mean it. I think that only 2 have actually had their existence verified.

oh, and Rakugaki Showtime on PS1 - you want a hard to find Treasure game? Here it is. Pulled about a week after going on sale thanks to the Japanese authorities not exactly keen stance on the promotion of delinquency...

Those Mail Plane carts are prototypes... do they count?

You know what - they were only proto's (just been looking them up on the interweb). However, there are a few Vectrex carts that are super-rare, especially the home-brew things still being made. We had a little retro-meet recently and one guy brought a lovely Defender-type game, beautiful packaging, and well put together. Think it was limited to 100 copies, so pretty rare.

edit - had a look around - it's called Protector. And it's aces.

Yep Protector. I have #46 of the limited run myself

Mail Plane is essentially a proto as it wasn't commercially sold or packaged. And I know one of the people with a copy of it. Would like to see it someday however.

Protector may go in, even though it is a homebrew, and even though there is an unlimited version out there. People know it, people want it. I've seen three copies sell on eBay and all have gone for over $200 (whereas the actual price to buy at the time was ?25).

It's a cracking game - and the built-in bonus game isn't too shabby either Well worth inclusion on your list, I think.

Only a thousand units were ever produced by NOJ and they were only avaible via getting a special willy wonka gold ticket if you like, by buying certain GBA games. I have seen these going for well over ?1000 now.
What a load of bull****. Where DO you get your facts from?

I believe 2,000 were actually made. And they have gone for fairly high prices on eBay (around the ?500 mark). But it's far from being the rarest SP now
