    Scratched Discs

I suppose I'm looking for the proverbial golden egg but is there any way to repair a disc surface without using the abrasive method used by disc doctor/Skip Dr. etc.

Having used the Skip Dr. and found it to work well for reading the discs, i have to say I'm less than satisfied with the multiple spiralling scratches it leaves on the disc surface. To the extent that I've been experimenting on a disc that Skip Dr. was used on. I've certainly improved the appearance by at least 50% using, of all things, Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by a coat of Autoglym Extra Gloss Polish!!!!

Is there a better way though?

    Scratched Discs: DURAGLIT

I have loads of discs with scratches and scuffs. I treat my discs like gold, but sadly secondhand games are often mistreated, what can I do?

I was going through some old threads and there was mention of the DiscDoctor etc...

One guy mentioned that a product named DURAGLIT works for his discs and gets them working again.

Does anyone know what type of DURAGLIT I need, here is a link to the list of products.

    Cheers!

I would have thought a medium tub would do but you really need to be careful with the stuff and make sure you apply/buff it evenly. Kind of like what the Disc Docter does, I suppose.

You're never gonna get good results though, there will be telltale signs you've done this. Don't buy second-hand discs

The link works for me, maybe because the cookies are on my system, I don't know, but it does show a list products.

I'm going to buy a tub of the stuff and try it out.

I tried a company called Scratch Busters, they are disc cleaning specialists, you can find them on their own site www.scratch-busters.co.uk

You don't happen to work for said disc fixers do you? Two ancient threads resurrected on the same thing... Hmm.

The disc doctor has worked fine for me on very scratched ps1 discs. I've never used it on modern discs like xbox etc. It is not an abrasive system, it coats the disc. The marks it leaves behind is a new finish, it doesn't actually remove anything.
