Oh yes, I'd forgotten about WMA. I've already got a bunch of stuff in MP3 VBR, and I'd rather not bother converting or re-ripping everything, so it's all pretty moot here, too.

I'm really tempted to invest in one of those mini macs instead of a laptop for my bedroom. They look awesome, and they're just so small. Could take it anywhere and use it on a monitor.
Actually, could I connect it to my Plasma TV, and then have a wireless keyboard and mouse on my lap? Would that work for surfing the net etc?

Answer this wonderful question. If the mini Macs allow us all to browse the internet and all the Apple related software via my Plasma TV that is due Wednesday next week, then it would be the next thing on my 'to-buy' list.
Plus the mini iPod seems a nice idea for those who can't afford for the ?200+ iPods. many of my friends at Christmas were slighty disappointed in not getting one because the price wasn't right. No screen is a downer but at the end of the day, it is the music you are listening to isn't it?

The native resolution is 1024 x 720 too. So it'd look pretty ace i'd imagine. Only things is, i'd have to limit the time i'm on there. As it'd be pretty partial to screen burn wouldn't it?
Maybe it isn't such a good idea...

Standard def Plasmas don't really have enough resolution (the mucho popular Panny is only 852x480) to be practical for computer usage. HD screens should be fine, though.
You wouldn't want to use it for hours on end, no, but I can't see how it's any worse than playing some games on it. Just keep the contrast and brightness down to sensible levels.

Which is how I correctly structured the advice; plyd for taking it out of context.

To answer that earlier question: yes, if you go for the build-to-order Bluetooth option you'll be able to get a wireless keyboard/mouse going no sweat, and the TV-out cable is extra (although DVI and VGA come with the thing by default). I've used my Powerbook to my TV plenty of times and it's pretty good, though you'll need a high-def (something like Plasma) set to get a decent res. You can, for instance, display 1024*768 on the TV, it just comes out very blurry as the TV doesn't have the res the video out has.
Regarding power: my one and a half year old Powerbook is a G4 867mhz with 640mb RAM - pretty much less powerful than the basic Mac Mini. 512 is enough to have lots of stuff open at once and it all work fine. I do a fair amount of Photoshop work and music/audio stuff and it handles it all perfectly. I'm sure a bigger rig would be better, but as long as you have 512, you're set.
