I have both and have enjoyed playing both but I have to admit to being a little underwhelmed with the DS when I got it. That could well change if a games company can make more use out of the dual screens and stylus to take it outside the realm of minigames or substitute analog control but, with what's available at the moment, I simply don't think the DS is enough of a progression and neither the second screen nor stylus makes me think differently. But, the potential is there and could turn out to be a real winner if a good designer can apply these features well.

As for the PSP, yeah I have issues with a few things (the shoulder buttons in particular) but the machine is such a leap in handheld gaming and had such a strong launch line-up that I couldn't help but be impressed by it.

But, you know, it's been said a million times before but it's true so I'll repeat it once again - it's all about the games. Both machines have immense potential. The DS could turn out to have the most surprising realisation of that potential, or so I'm hoping. As of now, it's all in the hands of the developers and I wish them all luck.

    Dogg.

I'll probably pick up a DS in a year or so, when I'll be able to get the pick of the best games and the hardware dirt cheap.

For 2005 it's the PSP for me, the DS is just too conservative.

Don't really see the point of this thread. Most people don't have both simply due the the expense. When the PSP price comes down to its RRP, I bet all the early adopters on here will have both.

I may shell out for a PSP just cos I'm a handheld whore (not that I'm really that small) and, as Trebs says, if the PSP was actually its damn RRP I'd have one, just to feel the shiny beast purring in my nestled palms.

I can't see myself liking it as much as I do my DS, but the novelty value hasn't worn off that yet...

And i challenge ANYONE to play Ridge Racers PSP, and then play Ridge Racer DS, and tell me that in this respect, that the DS is even fit enough to wipe the **** from my PSP's headphone socket...
AWWW, i really like Ridge Racer DS, as soon as you get used to the stylus it's great, ok graphically it doesn't touch the PSP but i still think it has good gameplay!

I've got both handhelds and i split my time easily between the 2, i usually use my DS for playing games on the bus as it's slightly smaller on a busy bus. If i do take my PSP on the bus it's usually to listen to mp3's or watch movies!!

well, if the DS and PSP are in the same room for too long, the universe will implode!

that's my plan also. thing is, i guess it really depends on what sorts of games come out on each. I never play games on the bus/train/etc anymore, just listen to mp3s and/or read edge/gamesTM/evening standard. the only time i take my gba out is on long car journeys to the relatives (london->birmingham mainly) so if the psp gets a bunch of 'technical' games that are just ps2 ports and were thus designed to be played for long periods of time i wouldn't mind as i'd be playing them for long periods of time. mind you, i doubt i'll be buying either within six months anyway, as i still love my gba and haven't finished most of the games i have for it (only streetfighter revival and that just doesn't count )

i haven't actually seen a DS in the flesh, let alone played one. and seeing as playing the PSP made me go from not wanting one to wanting to buy one that very day, maybe the same thing would happen if i actually played on the DS...
