I have both and have enjoyed playing both but I have to admit to being a little underwhelmed with the DS when I got it. That could well change if a games company can make more use out of the dual screens and stylus to take it outside the realm of minigames or substitute analog control but, with what's available at the moment, I simply don't think the DS is enough of a progression and neither the second screen nor stylus makes me think differently. But, the potential is there and could turn out to be a real winner if a good designer can apply these features well.
As for the PSP, yeah I have issues with a few things (the shoulder buttons in particular) but the machine is such a leap in handheld gaming and had such a strong launch line-up that I couldn't help but be impressed by it.
But, you know, it's been said a million times before but it's true so I'll repeat it once again - it's all about the games. Both machines have immense potential. The DS could turn out to have the most surprising realisation of that potential, or so I'm hoping. As of now, it's all in the hands of the developers and I wish them all luck.
