Any version of Evox can have the "Launch Dvd" option, depends whether the appropriate line is in the evox.ini file. The fact that lll_r0ssco_lll has the video mode options means that his version of Evox is relatively new.

Very doubtful, Enigmah only changes the video mode, not the console's region, and even then there's no option to make it multiregion. If you can boot any region disc with the chip off, it means that you're either playing region-free games, or that the chip isn't truly off, or that you've got a hacked dash or reflashed onboard BIOS.

    lll_r0ssco_lll,

Assuming your Riddick game and DVD drive are working OK, I'm 99% sure its the parental controls as I mentioned before. At some point your Xbox's parental controls were changed when it was set to Region 1 (USA). The console has since been set back to Region 4 (UK), which is why the parental control option is no longer available. The parental setting stays active even when the region of the Xbox is changed.

Only US games can make use of the "game" parental controls, which is why all your UK games work. A US game with a low parental rating may work, like a kids game for example. Also JPN games should work fine, if you can get hold of one try it out.

I've done some testing on my own Xbox and it exhibits the exact symptoms you are getting when the parental controls are on.

What you need to do is use ConfigMagic to set the region to 1, then go into the MS Dash and unlock the parental controls.

It requires that you change one digit in the EEPROM with ConfigMagic, if you want to go ahead I'll make you a step-by-step guide.

It loads the dash momentarily, then the load screen comes up then it does the whole switching between load screen and evo dash screen until I switch it off!?

I'm at uni just now but I'll try downloading a newer version of Evo X when I get home and see if that makes a difference, I doubt it will though.

Totally missed your post Tak earlier, cheers for info. Would you be so kind to tell me exactly how to do this then as I don't want to mess it up!?

I tried searching for Evo x to download anyway and I just couldn't get a hold of it ANYWHERE!?

No worries, I'll PM you later on today

Don't bother with Evox for now.

If I turn my Xecuter 2.1 off with the front-mounted switch after setting NTSC with Enigmah, it''ll boot anything. Any game, any region.

Of course I flashed the BIOS: it only came with Cromwell on board... and hence is good for nothing...

I said "reflashed onboard BIOS". This is the default BIOS that is in every Xbox, in a chip (called the TSOP) on the motherboard. This can be flashed with a hacked BIOS giving the same basic functonality of any modchip, but without the need of an actual modchip.

It has nothing to do with the Xecuter chip.

My point still stands, there is no way you can have a multiregion machine with the chip truly turned off, except if you have a hacked dash or reflashed onboard BIOS, or are playing multiregion games. Setting the video mode with Enigmah only sets the video mode, it doesn't allow all games from all regions to be played.

I've only flashed the Xecuter bios - haven't touched anything else other than installing evox and the like. Never touched configmagic.

If I set the (virtual) eeprom to NTSC with Enigmah it'll boot PAL games in NTSC from the MS Dash (with the 'Microsoft' logo on loading rather than the 'Xecuter' one) with the mod chip well and truly turned off (no LEDs lit up etc). It also plays the vast total of three import games (2 US, 1 Japanese) that I own in this setting.

Any region, any game (well, 3, but all my PAL titles). Bear in mind I haven't touched or modified it for years and it's a 1.0 Xbox. In fact, I very rarely turn the chip on (because I can't be bothered to go thru the evox loading process to play games).

Yeah those 3 import games are probably multiregion games then

Tekki deffo isn't (one of the three) because it's the reason I chipped the 'Box in the first place...

EDIT: I'm not arguing with you out of spite, btw, just saying that, to the best of my knowledge, this is 'how' my Xbox is working... It should also be duly noted that I'm not overly 'technical' and could well be talking out of my a-hole...

                      Totally understand mate

Perhaps Tekki is indeed a region free title, but it needs the NTSC videomode to actually run. Interesting..

Thanks to Tak, it's all working now eventually. Had to change the region in ConfigMagic.

Cheers for everyone else trying to help anyway!
