1gb of RAM. Don't understand why it chugs. it's intermittent. Weird thing is when I go to the graphics option menu, I can't adjust anything, it's all greyed out (and set on max detail). When I try to adjust the config tool, it never lets me set anything other than 800 x 600, if I change then relaunch it just ignore the settings. pissing me off.

and of course it's better than GT4.

Hmm I really want this game, the demo kind of reminds me of Test Drive Le Mans on Dreamcast, one of my alltime favourite racing games. But I already spent so much cash on games this month I think I'll wait a bit untill it's a little cheaper .

Sounds like it's not acknowledging your graphics card to me. Try updating (downdating?) your drivers and see if that helps...

I did that already. Turns out the front end just confused me. You can only set the graphics options before you enter a race meet.

Still confused I had to turn down the max settings at all considering my setup, but it had to be done, can't play a game like this without a rock framerate.

Weird - I've got a 9800pro with pretty much the same rig as you (overclocked a tad) and I got excellent framerate with everything maxxxxed out.

Have you tried the latest Omega drivers?

I was bored to tears by the demo of this, btw. Analcore. I need hot air balloons and electric guitars in my racing games.

May give that a go, although a bit uncertain about uninstalling this ATI control center thing.

I'm thinking about returning GT4 for this, since GT4 is all a bit GT3-ish.

Would anyone consider this a bad idea?

no, no comparison, GTR is the Real Driving Simulator !

I think the main benefit of GT4 are the many different production (sports) cars available to take for a ride (plus easy tuning options).
In GTR you may have a more realistic racing simulation, but you only get to race with GT cars.
I can?t really make a direct comparison though, since I have only played the early GTR (press) demo without A.I. controlled drivers.
(however, once I got a new PC I will definitely get GTR as well)

With the two games being released same day here in UK, GT4 has hardly had a look in, spent 80% of my spare time on GTR, what sort of times you guys getting, been mainly playing NGT (with the Porsche) to start with before concentrating on the mighty Lambo

Just started playing with setups, got (read downloaded someone elses) some good ones for all tracks for the Carrera RS3 if anyone needs any help, knocked 2.5 seconds off my best lap at Donington within 5 minutes

On a different note, GTR would just not work yesterday, wouldn't even load the intro movies, so backed up saves/replays etc, reinstalled and fine, mystery that one ....

Only driven about 140 laps in total but read on SimBin forums about guys doing 200+ laps just tinkering with settings on one track and doing 6000+ laps (since Spetember I guess) dedication for you.

Another one of those games that the more (and more) you put in the more you get back

I went straight for the Lambo and am going to stick with it through thick and thin. The dream come true.

Timings? Um, bad at the mo, but I only play sim mode with everything off (save clutch assist). Something like 1:49 for Catalunya, 2:01 for Brno.

Lambo is the quickest GT car, your times aren't bad, as I posted before, check out the records/downloadable replays over at www.hotlaps.de - post if you don't know where to stick replays etc, you started tinkering with settings yet ??

my best lap times can be found here (some were done in 10 minutes so there is lots of room for improvement )
