    PS2 picture quality

A while back i posted regarding what RGB lead to get,and went for the Blaze ultimate scart cable as recommended by somebody here.
Try as i might i cant seem to get a good image from the PS2 since day one, with this and a previous lead. Should i get an Ixos and try that,or would it make any difference at all to the picture that the TV is digital. (None of my other consoles are affected by this and the damn thing is Sony!)
Cheapest place to get an Ixos?

You did plug it into the RGB enabled scart yeah? And not the svid one? Just checking. When you say not "a good image", what's wrong with it?

You mean on the rear of the TV. Its going through a splitter with all my other consoles, which are perfect.
The picture quality itself almost looks like s-vid,as i remember s-vid to be on the GC before i got an RGB for it. Certain parts of the image 'glitch',as if the image isnt stable, like the speedo on GT4 etc,and everything has interference llines that run diagonally right to left, and make thier way south.
Seeing Saurian's PS2 image is a feast to behold, pin sharp, and he says he is just using a 3rd party rgb,one he said is no longer made. (think it was Viper).

Which splitter? If it's the 5way from argos, I had problems with that. Some consoles would look perfect and others would have those interference lines.
If it's a decent splitter then sounds like a dodgy cable.

Have you checked the video setting on the PS2 is set to RGB. Sorry if you've checked this already, but I had the same problem and this fixed it.

Argos. I tried the Joytech one and the Q wouldnt work full stop. Maybe ill try the PS2's in another brand. When i change the video setting to component and back again, as i went back to check this (was set to rgb) the picture seems to not change.

Is it that one? Have you tried flicking the RGB/ Compostive switch on the back of the lead? I have one of them after being recommended ot from here and it works top.

Thats the one, thought it may be the switch so i tried that aswell, but no joy. Reckon its the splitter. The only one ive seen local is the MadCatz one,any opinions on that?

I seem to have a similar problem here.

I have both the Blaze RGB cable and a madcatz 4-way RGB splitter allowing me to plug all of my consoles in at once, supposedly in full RGB. I'm getting RGB playback for my cube and xbox, but not the PS2. My TV doesn't seem to pick it up when I switch it to the PS2 setting.

Having said that, there's diddly-squat difference with or without an RGB cable on my TFT LCD screen, so I'm left shaking my fist at these greedy tv manufacturers who deem it necessary to charge you more than the price of a typical CRT but with much lesser quality

                    Balls!

Cheers for the info. Wonder if that means ill have no joy with the Madcatz. Also unplugging an X-Box,which is in the next socket along on the splitter, seems to make a bit of difference. Neither better or worse.

Have you tried it in different sockets of the scart block? Maybe only say 3 are RGB.
Have you tried a direct connection to the TV as a test?

I can definitely see a marked difference when I push that switch too. Is yours obviously worse when you push the switch?

The switch on the cable. For me its either **** picture or no picture (goes black). Tried different sockets but not direct, will do that now.

Just had a bit of a result. Try this aswell Daragon.
If i turn on my X-box at the same time it goes to rgb (the PS2). So does that mean the PS2 is not telling the TV to switch to RGB. What can i do to fix this?

I was just using a cheap 3rd party lead carried over from the PS1 days on my PS2 for ages untill I got the IXOS lead last year. The difference was clear to see. I'd recommend it.

Do you think the reason the tv is not auto switching to RGB is the lead, and not the tv itself. Works with all the other consoles though....

Where did you get you Ixos from ,do you remember. Found this one. Seem fair price?

                              Cheers
