Did I say I had tried it?

I have however had many emails from AOL members through eBay dealing, none of whom could write beyond the level of a small child. I don't know why so many illiterate people gravitate towards AOL for their net access, they just do.

I also strongly object to AOL's stance on censoring and controlling the Internet. The Internet was designed to be a completely free method of sharing information. No censorship of any kind, ever. But now there's money to be made so big companies such AOL want to find ways to reign it in. That stinks.

There are many other reasons why AOL is so derided, why their image is so poor. I wouldn't go anywhere near them, and I certainly wouldn't let them get a penny out of me.

I have two ADSL connections, a 2Mb BT line for personal use and a 512Kb Demon line from work. Can't say I've had issues with either.

How in the world does poor grammar pertain to poor internet service?

*waits....* Exactly. It doesn't. Surely you made the correlation between AOL being a family-orientated ISP, what with the software and all that, and illiterate email?

I thought you were the most narrow minded poster on the forum, and you continue to display why. Do I really have to explain that it is the account holders decision on what to censor? Do you REALLY think that AOL takes it upon itself to censor things without permission? And do you not feel that it is sensible to OFFER the idea of censorship so people can allow their children to browse the internet safely, taking away the worry?

TBH I don't think AOL cares about you, because you'd be more hassle than anything else. You appear to get off on finding fault in everything and everyone, and personally I think it's pretty pathetic.

Oh and FYI, I would hardly say their image is poor. They are clearly a world leader in the ISP market. But wait.......now you'll have something bad to say about the entire customer base.......idiots I tell you, IDIOTS! All because they don't agree with me!

Lastly, I would say i'd like to hear your "many other reasons", but TBH I wouldn't if they're as narrow minded and petty as your previously stated comments.

1MB Blueyonder - ?25pm which was good when I first signed-up (@ 512k), but seems more & more like a rip-off with each passing month...

                        2Mb, NTL.
You are going to hate me even more when I tell you that I have just ordered a fibreoptic line to be installed into my appt.

100M down and 100M up. Beat that BT!

                        P.S

I haven't really got it, but it is available. They are really pushing fibreoptic at the moment in Japan.

                          100M each way?! Oh man...

1meg on CentralPoint here @ ?26/m which was a decent price a year ago when I joined. I hammer IGN Insider videos all the time so no caps/limits is a good thing, and suffered zero downtime so far - I'm happy.

On AOL too, and although I have to admit that their software is utter ****e, you can now just log in the same as any other ISP making it no worse in that respect. Uncapped, cheap and never had a dropped line. Only problem is that you can't network (properly) on the Silver package which is a slight annoyance, but cant complain other than that.
