    LCD And XBOX Advanced Scart=Crap?

    hello chirps
Just got a 32 LG RZ32LZ50,my box is hooked up via the official advanced scart
cable and the picture is looking quite dark and the jaggies are fairly apparent.
This is my 1st foray into the LCD market and whilst I do think I was expecting perhaps a little too much, the picture is nowhere near as good as my sony crt.
I know the RGB output is fairly naff from the ole brick but can anyone give any advice on my next steps to visual nirvana?
The tv has dvi inputs,component,S-video and 2x rgb scart.
    cheers me dears

I have an LG LCD just like that its a couple of models down with a real crappy picture. Most of the time it seems to be when ever i play games in 60hz sadly i dont think theres much you can do. Try playing 50hz and see if theres a difference. Also i think an option appears on the tv menu for tint for ntsc pictures try changing that. All in all i prefer my older tv.

        Hi megaman
I think you can only do the ntsc tint thing in component,
My dvds look awesome although that is via component so I would expect that.
I will try the 50hz test tonight when i get in.
Did it take you a while to get used to the LCD screen I got quite a shock when i put mine in this morning, every little jaggie or zing in the picture is painfully apparent.(I work in tv and spend all day looking at Grade 1 monitors so tend to be hyper picky about picture quality).
I feel a little deflated because I think I thought it was going to look super amazing,I hope I haven't bought a stinker.

RGB SCART on LCDs suck. Try component or a VGA thing.

Yeah I might go with a vga,do I have to mod my box to go component though?

Soft mod will be enough to run enigma screenmode program on memory card via James Bond Agent under fire hack.

please explain how to do this - and will it get me a live ban?

You will need to get over to xbox-scene and start some intensive reading, start with the game/software exploits forums. But start with this http://www.xboxworld.com.au/forum/sh...ad.php?t=28489

If you currently have a PAL Xbox on Live and you change to NTSC, you shouldn't find yourself banned, however you maybe flagged. A flag comes up whenever you log onto Live, which tells them you have changed the Xbox to NTSC. At this point in time, MS are not seeing this as a banable offence, but they like to monitor you to see that you don't do any further modifications. After changing the console to NTSC, you need to delete any files/apps that were used to do the modification, just to be safe and return the Xbox to a stock state.
Personally the advantages outweight the risks in this regard, especially as you have an LCD TV.

Interlaced images just don't cut it on an LCD display (as you can clearly see). Changing to NTSC and getting the Advanced HD pack will enable the HD settings and you will be able to enjoy a significantly better image.

One thing you need to be aware of is that a small number of PAL games will no longer work on an NTSC Xbox. But most games will display fine in 480p.

Could I throw in a quick question here - if I have a US Xbox and US Gamecube, will they both look good on an LCD TV without any modding?

                    Thank you

it's well known xbox is applying some heavy effect on Composite/S-video output..
hence when you jump to HDTV you will surprise how much it looks better,,.

PS2 doesn't and that's why people who jumped to HDTV on PS2 weren't that impressed...

rjwtaylor, just get an Advanced HD pack for the Xbox and an official component cable for the cube. And make sure that you use NTSC cube titles, because the PAL titles don't support progressive scan.

Thanks fahrenheit, I'd been eyeing those packs on Ebay and hoped they'd do the trick.

It's up to you whether you risk it to shove the XBox into 480p mode, but even if you don't you probably want to get the component lead from the US. It should work even without activating NTSC and progressive scan.

^ pointless exercise to do that seeing as for games, RGB SCART is superior to Component where interlaced images (480i) are concerned.
