^ Well, spillage the Xbox-scene member who built that splitter is a rather helpful dude and happens to be in the UK. You could always drop him a pm there and ask.

Lyris, I agree that the RGB on the Samsung isn't great, but it looks nowhere near as bad here as it does in your shot, and I've got the exact same freeview box as you have hooked up to my set. (but it's also going through a Joytech AV switch)

It looks like there's two things going on in the picture - the first, it's over-exposed a lot more than the Sony one. This is either the camera's fault, user-error if it was manually exposed, or just simply due to a brighter backlight / contrast setting on the Samsung.

The second - the Samsung set has a higher contrast than the Sony. If you had turned down contrast you'd find the images to be remarkably similar. I just had a play around in photoshop and bumped up the Sony set's contrast until the background (not the text) looked the same, and it "bleeds" just about the same as the Samsung picture. (although not quite as badly as it's not as over-exposed)

Or it may just be that you have the sharpness up, but I doubt that's the case.

But regardless of that, component should look better on just about any television, simply due to the way it works by seperating Luminance and Chrominance, instead of splitting the R/G/B channels.

Hey Andrew do you have the LG set as well?.If so what settings do you use?
I find the factory presets installed are pretty strange.
I use DYNAMIC for games as the GAME setting is low on contrast and on colour.
The USER settings I don't like to screw around with because this is set up for the DVD.
