Remove the modem to reveal 4th screw.

      Unclip at the 2 arrows.

      Unscrew at the circles.
The block with the hat on is attached to the power board, so careful.

While the power board is removed, you will see 7 vertical pins (just the right of the bottom circle in the innards pics. Scrub them with some wire wool or scrape with a something to remove residue build up.

My mates have blown my Dreamcast up twice, the first time it happened the price of the import console was still like ?250.

I hate the smell of a fried DC.

Bending them "a tad" helps improve connectivity too, I believe. Worked for me.

Yeah. Make sure you "bend" them the right way. Bend= nudge a bit whilst being scared. If hey actually visibly stay bent then, back to Russia with you....

Sean's PC is playing up so he's asked me to ask the following.

He's replaced the Japanese Dreamcast Powerboard with a UK one but wants to know if he can plug it straight into the UK mains or if he still needs to use the stepdown converter.

Straight into the wall now mate. The UK PSU is a 240v so fire away.

I have exactly the same setup on mine.

A friend of mine did exactly the same thing...plugged his JP Dreamcast straight into the mains and fried it. I was told it was mine if I could fix it. Tested it with a PAL power supply and it works fine. It's a nice feeling not having to worry about blowing it up again . I'm sure you'll be fine changing the power supply over Sean...I had no idea what I was doing when I opened it, but it's all straightforward. Just don't lose the screws

Took me five minutes to do in total. Yesterday was a first for me - my first ever technical electronic-y repair/modification, and now my first ever imported console!!

After I got off the phone to Darran I was like a kid in a sweet shop, re-discovering all my games via the glorious Jap hardware. My only bugbear is that I have to change from RGB to RF if I want to play Vampire Chronicle - booo. Other than that - awesome.

Again, thanks to all you lot on here and especially to Darran who I anxiously pestered at work because I was scared the console was going to explode when I switched it on!!
