In the heyday could type over 75 a minute not that it ever applies to jobs as noone works that hard once your foot is in the door.

I just learned. Growing up around old machines I suppose... I learned how to read by using DOS, i'm pretty sure of it.

140wpm now, which is actually quite scary.

DOS did it for me. all that config.sys'ing and autoexec'ing to get flipping stuff to run...

nowadays, i play typing of the dead on my ps2. it's the jap version, so it's all romaji (with the jap script above the letters) and it's quite freaky how i manage ok with it. the only problem i have is certain bosses need to be beaten by answering a question like 'whats the capital of country X?' so i just guess these. it's really helped my typing, but my hands tend to ache a bit after prolongued play. i'm not a traditional touch-typist (don't put four fingers here and there etc) but i know where all the keys are...

mavis beacon i never really got into, but the car game was fun!

I may not touch type correctly but I can pretty much get a sentence out without having to resort to looking at the keyboard. The IM thing is definitely a help as is posting replies onto a forum.

I managed to post this with only a glance or two at the keyboard!

              140!! No way!

Remembering back to my prime type-age ability, I can't possibly imagine how anyone could go any faster. Thought I was setting world records or sommin!

I agree with RuBiQ though - nobody needs to work that hard

If you want turbo speeds just the chainsaw boss in typing of the dead over and over...on hard.

although i find i type much slower if i'm typing stuff that's onscreen, a la typing of the dead or mavis beacon. if i'm typing an essay or something i can fly, but reading AND typing? dear lord, no
