I've not tried Half-Life 2 (Xbox) on the 360 yet. How's the frame rate? People were saying the emulation was even worse than the Xbox conversion in terms of a steady frame rate.

As for being anal over signal processing... the more picture processing reaches higher quality, the more the small flaws begin to stick out.

Yes should have mentioned, the framerate on the 360 is very bad - although I dont have any complaints about the FR on the original xbox. And it doesnt even support widescreen on the 360!

A shame really. Although it was too late into development to change platform, I really do hope Valve re-release a version of Half-Life 2 which takes advantage of the 360.

Is it true HL2 runs in proper 720p, and not just upscaled?

Either the 26" Samsung or the LG 26LX2R.

That's a joke. If only because their definition of large is anything but:
                    screens larger than 19 inch
. I was expecting it to be 32" and above or something... 40"-50" screens aren't exactly uncommon.

17"-40" probably covers the majority of sales so they put the limit at 19"!

As HaHa says, although I reckon it's worth paying the extra for the LG 26LX2R, as that has decent RGB support, better scaling and DVI-I.

Haviong had both, there's very little to tell between them. Both look stunning in VGA, both struggle with (current-gen) SD content unless you sit at the appropriate distance. The LG has the upper hand in RGB (as Shakey Jake says). I can only speak for the LG in component, but despite a few minor niggles with the 360's output, it's by and large stunning to look at (particularly Kameo which I've been playing since yesterday) .

Depends on what you want. The LG and Sammy are great for their price bands, but there are other screens that offer arguably better picture quality at higher prices. It all depends on the budget, and what the TV will be predominantly used for.

                            hi,

its almost time for me to take the plunge on an hd lcd set. some amazing bargains at the moment in the sales, for example the panasonic tx32lxd52 has dropped down to ?999 in comet. i was reading over on the av forums that this is a cracking set, with it having an hdmi socket compared to the lxd50 which didnt and therefore wasnt hd ready.

I have a 20% staff voucher which i have to use before january because im leaving then, so i reckoned a panny 32" hd ready lcd for ?800 is too good to turn down.

The only problem is that the samsung and lg 32" lcds which everybody rave about here is also available to me for the same price. id appreciate it if you could give me some opinions on which one to go for.

I guess the most sensible option is to take in my 360 and connect it up to each first.

LG is better if you need VGA input, but if you don't need VGA input Panasonic is one of best one around.

Also check out Toshiba 32WLT58 as I believe Comet do them as well. It got 2 HDMI input.

Ignore everyones comments on here regarding the Samsung, it is ****e!b Seriously, it is laughable.

The Panasonic is a completely different level, as long as you don't need a pc input then it is a great LCD.
