I'm only speaking in reference to their LCD's, but the LG's accept both PC and DTV resolutions via HDMI without overscan, I would imagine their Plasmas would be the same?

        1. with tray empty press repeat key
        2. press keys 5-7-5-3-8
        3. 2 will appear on screen, press 9 for multi region

That's impressive about leaving the menus on though. I have a habit of leaving the X360 dash up so I can see who is signing in etc if I'm in the room, and of course you have crosshairs / HUDs to worry about.

Blacks are important, but most displays I've seen, be they CRT, Plasma etc don't have totally black blacks unless you're swallowing up shadow details. LCD blacks (on higher-end models) don't really concern me, and technology like ambilight should help improve them. (bias lighting can make quite a difference)
LCDs suffer from screen burn also - I have a pile of them in storage with screen burn.

Regarding blacks, there is no LCD on this earth that displays blacks as well as the Panasonic PW/HD series plasma screens.

            Regards,
            Neil.

Suppose it's just not as much as risk as it seems to be on Plasmas, I assume?

              360 has screensaver anyway

You only get screen "burn" (it's actually the LCDs getting "stuck" which can often be fixed) from "industrial" use. From normal use, even leaving a static image on the display for 24hrs you will not see a hint of it.

It's only when it's being displayed 24/7 for weeks/months that it can happen.

I've yet to see an LCD being used for consumer use with "burn-in" (and think how often that Windows taskbar is onscreen)

Cool ! Thanks for the codes I will try it now !

Regarding screen burn. My new LCD leaves a shadow image of the last scene displayed, if you go from that to a blank screen, disapears in about 2 seconds.

Hey guys! I would be very grateful if someone could help me with an issue which I have narrowed down to be windows! Basically today I got a Samsung 940MW 19" Widescreen LCDTV for ?299 today which works great however I have a really annoying problem. I have connected the TV via DVI to my PC but when I press the "source" button to change to my 360 on component or freeview on RGB and then go back to the DVI source the screen stays black and has basically lost the signal. When I unplug the DVI cable and put it in again it works perfectly and it also works perfectly if you set the TV to DVI and boot up in windows. Now I know it's windows at fault because when I change the source as windows is loading it will happily load up the DVI image with the XP splash screen but if you change source when its in Windows again you lose the image, so I have worked out that something in windows is causing it not to detect the TV when I chjange the source from DVI to RGB etc

Has anyone got any ideas what the hell is causing this? It's really annoying because I want to use DVI but I have to keep putting the cable in and out after playing on my 360 to get the DVI to work. Btw the VGA works fine on the PC and that doesn't lose the image. All I can think of is windows for some reason is not realising that I am back onto the DVI source and it isn't initialising the image again, also I've noticed when I remove the DVI cable from my X850 XT PE it makes a windows noise as if I've plugged in a USB device which I think is very odd!

Any help/advice would be great! Thanks!

you might as well try and find a VGA lead, it gives a lovely picture, it really does improve it even more. More than I was expecting

Today I have bitten the bullet.

Today I went to House of Fraser at Brum then John Lewis in Solihull. I just found out Toshiba 32WLT58 doesn't have component sockets and they don't offer interest free credit thing. So I went back to House of Fraser and bought Loewe Concept 32 despite a poor set up of demo (via composite )

I bought it for ?1,100 and 30 pounds for delivery. I pay 720 pounds today and have to pay ?17.09 a month for next 24 months on interest free credit.

I am going to have a happy 2006 I am expecting delivery on Wednesday/Thursday afternoon.

Now I can stop looking for ideal TV.

Have anyone else got this TV and tell me how good it is for gaming and picture quality.

I've not seen it, but a dig around the Loewe site suggested that, like the Mimo I considered getting a while back, it takes its component signal in via a Scart connection, so you'll need to find some sort of lead for doing that unfortunately.

It certainly does, Its the previous 56 model that doesn't have a component input.

But can take component over VGA so just need an adaptor lead that Tosh will sell.

Still the Loewe is a very good LCD - glad you finally got one Ledge, enjoy it
