BTW Andrew, you realise the settings I gave your friend were mine and were meant for running over Component and not Composite PAL60? That bottom shot looks hideous
The shots he sent were virtually the same as that before he tried out your settings. I had forgotten you were using component now though. (well, when he was getting those pics at least)

Once we each get component leads I'll see if we can do the same comparison - I bet there's not nearly as much difference.

I must say that the difference in colour reproduction is exactly the sort of thing I saw with my BRAVIA, and what put me off WCG-CCFL entirely. (Sharp's four wavelength backlight does similar things)

For the record, I actually don't like Lyris settings on my Bravia at all, finding them very lacking in clarity and depth.

I wasn't a fan either, he sure loves his colour!

I checked the pics again, and the 576i shot is actually my mate's settings, rather than Lyris'

I use these settings myself (this is Bravia S mind, might differ).

          Contrast - 85
          Brightness - 48
          Colour - 55
          Colour Temperature - Cool
          Sharpness - 15
          NR - Off
          Black Corrector - Off
          Contrast Enhancer - Off
          Gamma - Low
          Clear White - Low
          Live Colour - Low

I based them on 360 mainly, tweaked them a tad for PS2 (PS2 looks really dull without Live Colour, for example). I've changed nothing for Wii.
No doubt you have your sharpness a lot lower! I prefer my image slightly too sharp than slighly too blurry (similarly, I prefer my image slightly too colourful as opposed to slightly too dull).
Suppose they suit the art style of the stuff I watch and the games I play, mind.
Colour Temp. set to Cool because I find Normal adds a brown/red tint to everything. Maybe lowering the overall Colour would balance that, but it looks nice as it is.

Live Colour is a wierd thing, actually looking brighter when set to Low than when set to Medium, before jumping to far too high when set to High.
I approach such image enhancement with caution the same as everyone else, but I really like Live Colour enabled (on Low).

I think in the new year period I'll be finally picking up a new TV and as far as I can see the current Toshibas are as good as it gets and for a reasonable price (I'll be looking at the 32inch models). My one curiosity is how good it is for older consoles - SFC, MD, Saturn etc. Connected through RGB are these going to look any good at all or will it be a bit a disappointment. If the scaling and whatnot is not up to standard I do have an XRGB-2. The problem there would be that the main issue people seem to have with the Toshiba models is rather bad VGA support, is that over exaggerated or will either method of connection be fine?

Basically on the toshiba the only semi widescreen format it will accept is 1280*768, which it will do quiet happily at 1:1 pixel mapping. Good enough for 360 and if you want to connect.

                    Need help!

My tv has turned up, its this one:http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...V/Product.html

The plug is a two pin. I presume its Japanese or something. Anyway, can I use a shaver plug like I did for my japanese psp. I really don't want to blow up my new tv.

Chances are it is french. Have a look on the back of the TV and check it says something about 230/240 volts

Yeah You'll be fine. I would send a whingey letter to play.com though.

Is that a kettle lead coming out of the set or actually properly wired in?

Its a kettle lead. So is it ok to plug it in using the shaver plug I used for the psp?

Thanks for your help, it worked fine with another kettle lead.
