so thanks for all the replies

onyl 1 thing i dont like about it so far

    AV3C and AV3

Xbox is thru componet at AV3C and as soon as i plug something into AV3 it knocks it out, so my Saturn has to be put through a scart box

    but nice nevertheless

1st game played on my modern TV - Time Pilot on the konami's 80's collection (psone)

I used my friend Sharp 42 inch LCD with 1080P
by playing PS3 games - nice, Blu Ray (Talladega Nights) and it is very good but the viewing distance is too close and freeview picture is crap, and XBOX 360 settings with VGA wasn't good as my loewe 32 concept. But it is interesting to see the different and understand viewing distance stuff better. It make you think again about buying HDTV Display when you should go for a projector instead to make it easier.

Some may be interested, Sony have new S25 screens.

I assume the only difference between those and the S20 me and Concept have is the 2x HDMI.

What is ideal viewing distance for a 42 or 46 inch HDTV just like to know.

            Hi everyone,

I`m looking to buy a new TV for my new 360 and I saw a Sharp Aquos listed as 20 inch TFT VGA Panel (640 X 480).

            I thought 640 x 480 wasn`t HD (or 720p) but the model is then listed as having 921,600 dots (480x640xR/G/B=VGA). Isn`t 921,600 dots 720p compatible? Is this TV 720p?

(I should probably add that I`m living in Japan and its a multinational model)

            Thanks for any help

I'd want to be sitting arond 7-8ft from a screen that size, but that's just personal preference. Some people will say that's too close, and others will say it isn't close enough. To get the full benefit from 1080p at that size you wouldn't want to be further than 6ft, but I find that a bit uncomfortable with a screen that size.

640x480 is what it is. 921,600 pixels is just BS, as it's 640x480x3. By that logic, as 720p native set (1366x768) is 3,174,264. It's just marketing.

Not a good TV for XBOX 360, but should be nice for PS2.

I've discovered something very strange whilst trying the different screen resolutions on my 360 connected through VGA. My tv's a Tosh WLT68 and i find if i set the screen res to either 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 the colour goes totally screwed and all i get is a bright green distorted image . I'm sure it was ok with these resolutions before, and it's not really an issue as i normally run my 360 at 1280 x 768 anyway, but it is a bit disconcerting nonetheless ...

Edit : Posted this here too, better chance of getting some ideas in this thread

                    Yes, but there isn't a 26" model.

Panasonic have released the new LX70, and by the looks of things it seems to be the best specced 26" screen out there. 2xHDMI, VGA with 1:1 pixel mapping, 100Hz motion processing etc. Basically all the stuff screens 32" and above get. Only real drawbacks are the styling and perhaps the fact that it might not have an adjustable backlight (not confirmed).

Thought that might be the case. I`m running into a lot of cheap marketing, especially when looking at the smaller sets and the budget sets. Thanks for the help.

Is HDCP in a TV important?

Does a games mode really make a difference for games?

HDCP is irrelevant at the moment. It might be important if HD DVD and blu-ray ever check for it, but that seems unlikely for many years, if ever.

                            What's a game mode?

Your PS3 may refuse to function properly over DVI (I don't think there is HDMI without HDCP) as well as any other devices which use HDCP.

A Games mode is something that cuts down lag when it comes to playing games as apparently lag is an issue for hi def TV's when it comes to games that require precision.

themanwithapc: I don't understand. I wanted to get this TV:

It has a 8ms response time, a games mode, 1 HDMI port and is hi def ready. It doesn't have HDCP or DVI.

Is that supposed to be problem in anyway for PS3 or 360?
