Cheers for this is 46 inch TV right for 11ft square room. I got 32 inch LCD and it is not bigger enough for me. (For movies, gaming, football and lack of 1080P)

Buy the biggest you can afford. It will psychologically shrink after a week.

Quick one, arsing around with my Service Menu (reset really does what it says.......) and I see a bit in the adjust menu that says

        'DNIe: On'

However, I can't actually select that bit in the menu, always goes to the next line which is the 'DNIe Demo: On' line. I change that one ok but not the important one. I assume my TV has this locked out ? (Still using the same old Sammy LE32R51 btw).

          Sounds like it

I was never able to disable it on my old one, whatever I tried. So you are stuck with it

              Ah.......Well you can guess.......

Not a huge deal I suppose in the grand scheme of things.

On my Sammy some of the options like DNLe will be locked out depending on what picture mode you have selected and whether game mode is turned out. I think mine is a more recent one than yours though.

                  *sigh*

I'm having some budget issues with a new loft games room & I don't think I'll be able to get the screen I wanted. (40 inch 40W4000 from Sony)

I will be sat 2m from the screen, and wondered what people thought about FULL HD on 32"? (32W4000)

                  Is there any point?

If it was a middle of the road Full HD Samsung 37" or a 32W4000 what would you choose?

If it's a GAMES room, and most games are 720p, I'd be more inclined to go with a bigger lower-res screen.

I sit about 2 metres from my screen and I think at that distance I could accomodate a 37 inch (have 32 at the mo) and still be confortble for gaming, any larger and I'd have to move my head/eyes too much to see around the screen. As lyric says , for gaming 1080p is a bit unneeded, most games struggle to get to 720p.

I was just about to purchase the KDL52X3500, but i've just had a thought. I only sit about 2m away from the TV, would it be better to get the 46" instead?

At least, what I suggest doing is going a a random electrical shop that has a 52" screen , take a tape measure and position yourself the same distance that you would be sitting.

52" is freaking huge, you may not appreciate that until you see one in the flesh

I have a KDL40X3000 and I sit about 2 meters from the TV also. I personally think 52" might be a bit too big. 46" would be about right, finding my 40" a bit on the small size now :S

So, due to some bizarre circumstances I've been offered a cheap as chips upgrade to my Panny 42" plasma. I don't know the exact details yet, but it comes down to the fact I can replace it with a 1080p 42" Sharp LCD screen or a 50" LG 1080i screen.

I guess my question is, just how much better is 1080p over 720p/1080i at the moment for things like HD gaming and Blu Ray playback?

At first I just thought I'd take the 1080p Sharp, but I remember the last time I looked at these in depth and I thought the plasmas won out every time in terms of picture quality. But would I possibly miss not having 1080p if I went for the bigger screen?

No better for games because barely any games are 1080p (barely any are 720p TBH)
but definately better for Blu Ray.

Do you know what models they are? Are they actually any good, last time I checked Sharp made some real nasties, as did LG.
