12ms or better screens have no issues with blurring whatsoever. I haven't bothered to work it out myself, but I believe it's (a "true") 16ms that is required to display a full 60fps without any of the frames being blurred out.
I have about 20 of the "latest" LCD's in a test lab about 10 feet from me (including some you haven't seen) and I can tell you that the lag exists, yes its better but it still exists and its noticable more and less in different environments.

When we pump the air con up to full power and the lag gets noticably worse. Also view angles are varied and the blacks leave alot to be desired.

Which kind of brings me to my next n00b question, which I'd like someone to help me with.

I've got a 42" Panny Series 6 which does 720p quite comfortably, but as far as I'm aware (someone correct me here if its wrong) only has a resolution of 852x480. So, would the extra resolution for 720p to be displayed native (like on the latest round of LCD sets) really make that much of a difference?

I know it might be subjective and a bit of an awkward question, but would the upgrade (or downgrade which ever way you want to look at it) really be worth it? I know Unlighty said was much more impressed with his LCD set than his Panny Plasma.

OK I have a question, i am getting the Samsung LA26R51B and cannot wait!

Now i have a question. Many people have said that VGA gives out better quality than component, so i was wondering, will the Xbox 360 VGA Adapter

        http://www.videogamesplus.ca/product...ducts_id=10023

fit in the back of this tv's VGA slot? If so does the TV's VGA support High Definition at 720p?

        Thanks a lot!!!

How far do you sit from your current plasma? Only a 50" Plasma will resolve 720p properly as all 42 inch 'HD' models are 1024x768, so if you were to compare your 42 inch SD plasma from a certain distance against a 32 inch HD LCD from the same seating position, it could be argued you wouldn't notice. It's tricky really as everyone has their own personal 'sweet spot' when it comes to picking a screen size and viewing distance.

If you were looking to move to an HD plasma, the 1024x768 resolution is rather negligible vs. true 1280x720 so I wouldn't be concerned about that. You might want to find a store running an HD feed on an LCD, then stand as far back from it as you do when watching your plasma at home and see what you think. There are a couple of 40 inch LCD options out there too of course.

On your SD plasma, which many refer to as ED (Enhanced Definition) due to the fact they can accept HD signals, just not display them at native resolution, you still in fact will benefit from everything HD has to offer over SD Keeping in mind that the benefit of HD is not just resolution. Indeed, the only thing you wouldn't get is the enhanced resolution, but again, the fact is if you sit a certain distance away you're not going to notice the difference between an HD or SD panel being fed the same HD feed. You really need to get some demos and judge for yourself.

Yeah it was more than one question

Yeah, you're right but its hard to find somewhere near me with a decent setup (as I vowed a while back I would never go into Comet or Currys again - long story).

Saying that I did find an independent retailer a few miles away who might be able to demo some stuff.

                Cheers for the help

Anyone recommend a smaller 17" ish LCD suitable for the bedroom? My bro is after one and usually buys his TVs from the high street (maybe he likes paying more, I don't know). He's also not clued up on what is what.

He described one he saw as a no-name 17" 800x600 LCD for ?280. First thing I said was that it's not widescreen. He just wants it for TV really so tons of inputs etc isn't a priority.

I was looking at this one

                    Impulse buy!

Samsung LE26R41BX, been toying with the idea of finally getting a decent tv. Managed to persuade Katy so I have ordered asap to stop her changing her mind.

Not a bad price but Digi-UK do it for ?589.99 with free delivery.

It's the same model (the X means nothing and is sometimes omitted)

Looks good, but check the response time is less than 25 before buying!

Oh trust me, saying that alone says more than you'd ever need to.

I'm sure I'm not the only one either

Anyway - one more query for all you in the know.

A lot of people go on about the black colours on LCD's not being as good as CRT's etc, yet all the pics I've seen posted look pretty fine to me (including the ones on this forum).

So, is this the same sort of thing as people said for Plasma sets, in that the earlier ones weren't very good at handling lots of dark colours?

My Panny plasma has always been fine when it comes to bits in films and games where its really dark, so would there be any noticible difference? Or with LCD's is it just under poor ambient light conditions that this graying occurs?

I take it having an adjustable backlight would solve any problems?

                              Sorry for all the questions

I only see the LCD poor black level problem if the room is properly dark, myself. How do you have the light level when you watch your films?

LCD is going to suit me just fine, as Caz hates watching stuff with all the lights off (yes, I realise that means a certain Clown really will be Angry with us...)
