Just a guess (and you've prob. thought it already), flakey connection? Is the lead seated properly in the socket on the telly? Had a scart lead that did the same on one of me old crt tellys, was a duff voltage line telling the telly to go into rgb - hence kept flicking in and out producing an AV1 logo up in the left of the screen (doffs cap to anyone more in the know about HDMI......)

Are you using 1080p input? A lot of very cheap (ie in-the-box-freebies) have problems with this since it's so bandwidth hungry.

nope, 720p. I got a free £40 hmdi cable (lol) from the shop after my troubles, it fits very snugly. annoying really sometimes it'll flash up all the time , sometimes you wont see it for days and days

It sounds like the set has some handshaking issues, which means there's probably not much you can do about it other than contacting Panasonic and getting them to repair/replace it.

I've had them look at it a couple times due to the buzzing problem.

sigh, oh well. I'll try not to let it annoy me

For anyone else, who like me, would really like 2 Component Video inputs on their European TV, wait until October for the new Sonys. The press CD they gave me at IFA shows the back of the new W3000 and X3000/X3500 1080p models and both have 2 RGB SCART as well as 2 Component video inputs (meaning that the European versions are now the best in the world for connectivity).

I've complained about this in reviews since forever so I'll be glad to finally stop. Here's hoping other manufacturers follow. Ironic that it comes at a time where the X360 Elite has been released and people now might have less need for 2 Component inputs, but there you go.

That's why I like the Panasonic panels. You can buy whatever inputs you want and slot them in. You could have three component inputs if you wanted.

The commercial Plasmas, right? I'd love that feature too.

Yeah, but you can only have three input boards along with the built-in VGA though, right? So you would end up far more limited in the end.

I'd love to see how one of them looks with the Wii hooked up though - you can disable overscan/any processing, and they have a 480p native screen.

Yeah, that interested me too. The reason I'm so pleased to see that is because it's on a model other than the absolute highest-end one.

How good is Pioneer new 1080P plasma TV ? and can it handle SDTV or 480P well enough.

What size does it come apart from 50inch. I would like to buy one end of 2008. Can't buy it yet as I got to clear my bills and debts and then replace my wardrobe and redecorate my bedroom first.

I can't say how the 1080p one is, but the x768 models do a fantastic job with standard definition. They come in 50/60" and are £3300 for the 50" model.

While they are really good sets (possibly the best HDTVs available just now) they aren't "revolutionary" and I think it's ridiculous that Pioneer is deciding not to call them Plasmas anymore.

I just went in and bought the TH-42PX70PED (I think I remembered the model number correctly!), £900 from a 'proper' store, roughly £50 more than online but it gets delivered to my house on Friday (I specified then, could have it tomorrow but I have a driving lesson and the other TV gets picked up then too, all in one day!) and the 'personal' aspect will help for any other problems. Pushed the guy down from £990 to £935, to £915 and then £900.

choddo better be right about this, heh. The M87 as a few faults with it, so rather than getting a replacement I'll just get a refund for £1399.99 (already got Quidco out of them, hehe) and leaves me 'up' £500 and I also get the experience of plasma and a new TV, fresh!
