    Corrupt GC Memory Card

Just tried saving a game and it says that the memory card is corrupt and needs to be formatted.

Ive had this problem a few months ago, but i took the memory card out and put it back in and it worked, but this time it isnt working.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

    thanks

What game were you trying to save?

      Paper Mario.

The thing is i played RE4 2 hours before that, and saved without a problem.

I also tried accessing it through the main memory card place, but same problem.

if it's a 3rd party card here's the quick answer: buy an official one.

i've had a fair few & never had an issue with any of 'em. however, i hear reports of 3rd party cards 'corrupting' all the time on user forums...

The reason i ask is phantasy star online 2 has corrupted my save games on several occasions (and its the only game i have that did that)

is it a official memory card or a third party?

I had one of those third party Datel 1000+ block cards, it never even worked in the first place. I wonder why the unofficial GC memory cards were so bad?

Most third party stuff is crap because they basically take apart the official product, reverse engineer it, and then build their own with cheaper parts.

I'm hoping that Microsoft's plan for the Xbox 360 to charge royalties on third-party products will increase the quality but I wouldn't hold my breath. If anything it could make it worse since they're going to have less money to spend on developing the actual product.

I've got a couple of cheap third party ones and one of them is always saying that it is corrupt. I just take it out and blow on it and it's fine. I know I should always buy official ones, but at ?1.97 from Blockbuster it brings out the tight Yorkshireman in me

MS are just doing that for money.

Its a joytech one. I have a few official ones, but use this one as its an 8mb and the rest are 4mb.

it taking the piss now as i have so many saves on there!

                        Bummer.

It's harsh but if you're not prepared to lose data then you simply must buy official memory cards. I learnt that the hard way back in the PS1 days.

Do what i did & buy a USB memory card. Yeah its 3rd party but it means you can back up 99% of your saves to your pc so if the card goes tits up you still have all your save data.

Only problem you would have is the data that is locked to the card as you cant back that up. I live in eternal fear that my pso save will die.

I have a lot of precious save data, that i would be gutted if i lost.

This happened to me yesterday, it came up with all that corrupt **** and so I had to format it, wiping my beautiful Resident Evil 4 completed file, and god knows what else. What a life. I was in the middle of transferring all my saves to a new official 1024 block one aswell, which makes it even less funny.

****, I think my Pikimin 2 file was on there too. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Strange thing is when i lost all my saves (because of phantasy star online) it did not really bother me.Strange that i just shrugged and started playing the games again
