    NTL Upgrade

Started downloading today and noticed Ive been bumped to the 10Meg connection, currently getting between 900-1050 kbps for my download

I live in the Watford area, so Id expect that if you are also with NTL and in and around this district yours will also be due to upgrade soon too.

I was on the 3Meg pipe. To be honest that was fine for me, Im more concerned about the 75Gb cap which Ive no doubt Ill exceed in a couple of weeks. If that happens I expect to be looking for an ISP with no download limit, its probably more important to me than the speed provided Im on at least 3MB.

go to ntlhome.com and enter your postcode and it tells you what services you can get iirc.

We get NTL phone, TV, BB but can't get caller display at home.

Thanks Marcus, only on 1mb line myself but will phone them and see ...

Yeh the cables would be installed to your place already, so getting BB off them shouldnt be a problem imo. Dont know the upload, but that doesnt concern me as Im not doing any sort of web hosting etc anyways.

Dave I expect you will be upgraded to the 3Meg service automatically as well, it all depends on your area as to when that would be.

I'm currently on the 2Meg; I wonder if there's any chance it will get faster without handing over cash...

Checked the website and phoned 'em, no free upgrade for me in the foreseeable future, so 1mb it is for now.

Did notice "10mb line coming soon with 75gb monthly cap" on NTL homepage, they are currently charging ?37.99 for 3mb line, so prehaps it will just replace that, but knowing NTL prehaps not.

                        10mb line does replace the 3mb one (?37.99 a month), apparantly 1 & 2mb lines will be uncapped officialy from Jan 06 - even though I go way over my limit each month I've never heard anything from them - copy of the email here;

Some monthly plans being mooted about from start of 2006, must stress not official from NTL or anything.

                        10mb-25gb cap=?17.99
                        or
                        1mb-no cap=?17.99

                        10mb-50gb cap=?24.99
                        or
                        2mb-no cap=?24.99

                        10mb-75gb cap=?34.99
                        or
                        3mb-no cap=?34.99

Telewest upgraded my 2mb to 10mb a while back now - Uncapped and as they're pratically the same company now I'd imagine the upload for NTL will be the same.

So, a paltry 384k it is then.

Still, I can host a mean session on xbox live from what I can tell.

Downloading is nonsense - Without going into details 1 gig takes about 20/25 minutes.
