Tell them you'll give them a bit extra on top as this is an international purchase, and they should let you. Another geezer offered to open a new paypal account to let me buy it, so it isnt too hard for them.

Also, to check if they accept paypal when searching, look for the paypal logo on the search results screen near the title.

Why do Germans ask you to include a bit extra on the top to cover Paypal fees? No-one else does and it's against eBay regs... I don't see why they get to corner the market in stinginess.

I'd never ask a buyer to do that. What cheek, sir. I'm going to pay him what the auction went for and hope he's not offended.

No way is that a German only thing. I've seen people attempt to do that more or less everywhere for a while now.

Germany has one of the lowest number of credit card holders per captia in Europe. They don't do credit, most even rent their homes. The % of homeowners is much lower than the UK.

Germans have a distrust of credit and credit card chargebacks, their system is much more traditional.

Most ebay sales have high postage fees in the UK, this is used to offset the Paypal and ebay fees (IMO). The postage the Germans are using seems pretty reasonable to me, they don't seem to have caught on to the 'lets rip the buyer with ?35 postage fee'

German ebay is great. All of the sellers seem really professional and there are little to none of the scam attempts and garbage items that seem to plague the UK one.

But thats the US one. German eBay has the PAL ones, so better for us

Edit: Silly me, its a UK one Altho they are charging over ?800 for it! Cheaper on eBay UK!!
