Similar question. Off to Boston in April, anyone know any good places to get games, as I intend to fill my boots.

    Cheers

Last time I went to San Francisco (couple of years ago), I looked thru the yellow pages and only found one dedicated little videogame store which carried imports, selection was poor and prices were too high (if you're used to online shopping).

I ended up visiting Toys'R'Us and (mainly for PC titles) CompUSA, as well as the Virgin Store (again, an emphasis on PC). The latter two are on Market, downtown. The Metreon store felt more like a Gap for games, couple of new domestic (US) Playstation family games only, nothing to get excited about.

*edit* Oh, and there was an EB games store that had a somewhat diverse selection (can't remember whether they had imports though). It's somewhere around the vicinity of the Ferry Building, consult the yellow pages.
Some of the stores in Chinatown carry games as well, I remember mostly GBA games, perhaps you might even find some odd import there. I'd rate that a slight chance only though.

If you go to Toys'r'us on 44th and Broadway walk one block over to 6th avenue and you will see on the corner of 6th and 45th a Gamestop, less than a minute walk from Toys'r'us.

If you go to a game shop and bring your flight ticket with you to show him you want the game today rather than wait until Tuesday and then he probably will sell it to you.

Nah that probably won't work. As far as I'm aware in America a game's release date is the day the game is sent out from the game's distributor to game stores. It usually takes a couple more days before the shop takes stock of the game. This is in contrast to the UK where games are normally sent out a good few days if not a week or so before the actual official release date.
