Well, there's been some odder things happen =P Also before I call him out I'd rather have some back up first. I dont have a clue about it working with out a chipped machine, dont really want to try it all just in case. If he wont take it back I have a new drinks coster though..

Yeah, I want to watch out for stuff like this - how was the auction worded?

I'm not entirely sure because I've never bought one, but I think a lot of the Asian copies like that are produced by professional operations with access to actual disc pressing facilities. An unchipped PS2 won't boot a burnt copy on DVD-R, but it will boot a copy that's been pressed onto DVD-ROM.

you would still need a modded ps2 as the pressed copies dont have the boot code

Here's a link to the auction, so you can see how it was worded & the user's ID.
http://tinyurl.com/z5doc Just used that to make it smaller. Been lucky to have not had any probs in nearly 5 years with ebay I guess, ho-hum. Now I just need to wait on him to get back to me.

I actually think its probably an honest mistake, the other stuff he has been selling is just random stuff. He may of bought it/been bought it and known that foreign discs didn't work, so he bunged it on ebay.

Well nothing in there to suggest otherwise really regarding pirate or real. Though in general I never bid on auctions with stock photos; if it is something I'm really interested in, I'll always ask for a real photo. Some come back with one, some weasel out of it, so I just forget about them. If you can't take the time to demonstrate the quality of the object you're selling, you won't get my business.

Personally if he refuses a refund, file a complaint with eBay that he is selling pirate/copied games, they usually sit up and do something about that after the fact (if not before sadly, witness the swathes of pirate GBA carts about).

I've picked up some good stuff with just the box type blurb for the saturn (a while ago mind) & nothing really seemed out of place on this one, feed back was good & legit. I do truely feel it was an honest mistake on the sellers behalf, thats why I went to him first to see if he's willing to sort it out & I do hope he will. Still, lesson learned & all that.
