radiant silvergun - will it depreciate?

having just found ikuraga (yes it took me a while) and gotten rather hooked on it, i found out about radiant silvergun, which seems to be one of the most sought after games on the internet

obviously i'm interested having seen a few videos and such on it, as it looks amazing, but the ?100 odd price tag is a bit of a putter offer

what i wondered was, if i got the game, rinsed it to death for a year or so, then sold it back on again, would it still be worth the same amount of money/more? (if i keep it in mint condition that is)

and whats a good price to pay for a copy, i don't give a **** about spines and all that as i'm not really a hardcore collector in that sense.

i did do a search about this btw as i'm sure theres about 203994534 threads about this game, but i couldn't find one as relevant as this

    cheers
    bren

Every time I check the price has gone up, not down. I assume it will peak at some point, but sealed copied can go for insane prices now ($400 or so).

Even unsealed copies with no spine can run $150-200.

Worth every penny though, it's one of the finest shooters ever made.

RSG has been in or around the same price for years. The only thing that might cause it to depreciate is if it gets released or stuck on a compilation, which is bound to happen sooner or later.

If you're gonna buy it just to play, I wouldn't pay over the odds for a mint one with spine etc, just try to find a cheaper one in any condition and you're pretty much guaranteed to get the money back, ( when you realise that it's an over-hyped mutant of a shooter) Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Thing is, it's not even that rare a game. English versions of Panzer Dragoon Saga have significantly lower price runs, but fetch roughly the same price on the 'Bay. I mean, I can't remember when there hasn't been a copy for auction.

Only reason it goes for so much is its perceived rareness. It's got something of an aura around it. Same could be said of a lot of collector's items, but bidders keep offering ridiculous amounts for it, hence most initial bids set by the seller wind up at around the ?100 mark.

It's not a rare game, but it's hugely in demand. It is a very, very good vertical shooting game (sorry -- I'm not in the 'it's cool to slate RS' camp ). Partially the demand and partially the hype has led to its gigantic price.

              ah i see

even though its not rare, that doesn't really circumvent the ?100 price tag unfortuanately

i think i'll just try and track down the cheapest copy possible and sell it on once i've had my fill (i've still got ikaruga to master atm!)

ps. if anyones got a spare copy they dont want (seeing as half the people here seem to hate it :P) then pm me whilst i've still got some of me student loan left!! (even tho i'm meant to be writing my dissertation at this precise second but oh well)

only because of the limited release (In Japan) and the hype that surrounds it

i dont think its worth the price tag personally (sorry guys)

there are plenty of shooters below ?50 that are more than capable and some are better

maybe so, but thats the whole point of this thread! ie. wether or not i can break even after having a good ol' rinse out on it

as thats basically just having the game on loan for an indefinate amount of time for free, you just have to shell out a large 'deposit', as it were, it seems.

Providing you don't pay over the odds for it, you should be able to recoup your outlay.

Precisely - ignore the jokers on Ebay who want ?150+ buy it now & scope out a no reserve auction; a week or 2 back there were 2 copies that finished under ?80.

It's a superb game by the way.

In fact it was one of the reasons i started importing games.........still wish i had bought another 10 copies

I can't see RS appearing on a compilation. Treasure arent that sort of company. Let it remain on the saturn
