Samsung UK site does have info under CRT Z4 series and the instruction manual is available for download. It lists 720p as supported via component and HDMI.

    There are 2 HD models
    409 HD
419 HD + Freeview (Only available via Currys stores), I had a look at one last night in Currys and it has Component + HDMI

right, been into comet... ?450 for the hdmi model, ?350 for the component model.

interestingly the 'blurb' for the hdmi model didn't even mention it, i used the remote and flicked through the inputs until i got a lovely blue screen with 'hdmi - no signal' on it. sadly they were running a fuXXored coax into the tv so i couldn't even compare the sd picture with the other tvs.

may take my 360 in and blast it through the component input seeing as the store's maybe half a mile away.

basically this sounds perfect for sky hd, so as long as it handles 360 well at 720p i'm in too at that price.

please someone let us know if its any good with 720p.

Sounds fantastic for the price. The advantages of a CRT screen with the added bonus of an HD picture! Hopefully it isn't too good to be true. I've got a Comet under two miles away, but as I have a Japanese 360 I don't really want to lump that and my huge step-down over there I'll wait for someone else to report back instead

Was having a read through that thread on rllmuk, and someone says

"Might I add that the few blurring or dodgy geometry problems have dissapeared from my set, having used it for a few days.

It also looks mint on my upscaling dvd player."

so despite that slightly dodgy looking pic of GRAW, I'm still quite tempted.

As I said on the first page, The geo issues with these sets are well known, and if u call Samsung UK they will even ADMIT these sets have issues.

Halfway down that page, yet another person.

                And again

Anyone saying that it "Disappears" is lying.

Why is people insist on taking picture of their TV with digital cameras?
It's not like you can actually tell what the quality of image is like

true but there no other way of doing it really is there?? i think the photies weer for geometry rather than picture quality though. (at least i hope).

I just mean in general, "Look at my new sony TV and how good the picture is"

Just to let you know I got a 419 from Currys on Monday.

No problems so far and the picture from the 360 @ 720p using component is great. Real surprise was how good the gamecube picture is with RGB 60Hz on a large screen.

As a TV the DTV picture is also good

Noticed any geometry problems with it at all, like other people have mentioned? I'm very tempted to get one of these myself this weekend, and I'm going back and forth over whether I should take the plunge or not

Oh dear, three pages and no one has mentioned that the Samsung Slimfits DO NOT SUPPORT 1080i AT 60Hz!!!

These CRTs (along with other Samsung CRT rear projection models) do 1080i @ 50Hz only, which means for games consoles you are limited to 480p only.

Only a couple of small things but you really need to be looking for them. I had been checking avforums so was aware of the issues.

The dashboard blade has slight bend in the top right corner
Scrolling overlays on Skynews and BBC 24 blur slightly

I had a purple patch in the left side but it disappeared after the first degauss.

The quality of 720p over RGB scart on the 360 is great and for the money I would not complain.

Curry's web site is selling the 419 with built in freeview for ?499 incl stand and 5.1 surround system
