    Windows Vista Public Beta

I couldnt see any threads about this yet suprising but the Vista Beta is out and is useable till July 2007. Im using it now and ive gotta say its fantastic. Yeah it uses loads of resources and needs a good spec machine to run but it looks fantastic and ive yet to run into any problems with it bugs wise. So is anyone else running it yet. And what are you thinking of it.

Yeah i've been running it for a couple of weeks now, the 32 bit version is much more stable than the 64bit version.
I was suprised how slowly it ran though, considering it is a fresh install and my PC is pretty well specced.

Downloading now, 3.1gb, crikey thought they may have streamlined it since the 2gb cough versions appeared months ago but obviously not.

Virtually maxing out my line though which is good sign, thought it would be very slow.

Expect many posts from me, want to run this in tandem with XP (on two different hard-drives obviously)

Its quite good y, you can install to a separate partition via windows autorun, it even addsa new dual boot screen.

I'm interested in trying the 64bit edition on my laptop - Will it give me the option to make a new partition during installation for it, or will I need to create a new one manually?

Will it let you install alongside XP for a dual boot or will I also need to sort that out manually?

Probably best to create a new partition yourself.
It will set up dual boot automatically if you install it from XP.

              Nice, ok.

Is the 64bit version usable? I REALLY hope it's not too bad.

It was ok, but I don't like the fact that like XP x64 you have the standard 64bit programs running along side 32 bit emulated programs, surely that can't be an efficient way to run your PC?

Where the suggestion that the 64bit version is less stable has come from is beyond me...they're both as good/bad as each other.

As for the comment about it not being an efficent way of running your pc, look at it this way.......is the fact that people have been buying 64bit processors then using 32bit O/S's efficent?

I've been using Vista for a couple of weeks and so long as a few of the bugs and incompatibility issues are ironed out in the final release I think Microsoft are onto a winner.

Actually the file I get is a 13.7mb one which contains only a txt file - anyone else getting this?

Multiple partitions on one drive, it makes no difference. unless you are implying the vista NTFS driver will corrupt your xp NTFS partition, which is highly unlikely.

Use the Download manager and not the Direct Link
