PSP firmware 2.5/2.6 to 1.5 firmware downgrader?

There's been quite a lot of work on this recently after an exploit was recently found in the 2.5/2.6 firmware although early releases bricked a lot of peoples PSPs.

A beta of the final release is here though and so far the reports are looking very good however it is still only recommended for use by people whose original firmware was 2.01 or below and definitely not for those with the newer TA-082 models (info on identifying whether you have one of these is in the link).

Probably worth waiting until the official 'final' release comes out but it's looking good

Not tested this myself yet as I run 1.50

Quick update - I've just downgraded a PSP that was originally 1.52 firmware, updated to 2.0 then 2.60 and it downgraded to 1.5 without any problems.

Remember, once downgraded you can use the latest version of that firmware loader to run 2.5 games.

This sounds great, although even having read how to do it I am confused and bewildered, so will get one of my computer whizz associates to sort it for me.

Unfortunately, if you are like me and have a IC1003 motherboard, the downgrade does not work.. And that sucks.

Can anyone on here downgrade my PSP for me, and put some emulators and roms on it for me if I pay them or something? I am good for the money, like. Oh and do I actually have to OWN the GTA game? Hope not because I wasn't planning on buying that one any time soon.

ye you need the gta game to get the eboot program to get the downgrader working.

it is relatively easy for you to get all the files go to the www.qj.net site mentioned above their is loads of guides.

but i would wait for a new more stable downgrader to be launched as there are a few bricked psp's atm (not working!)

mine took about 10 mins and i was so nervous.

well I just checked and my PSP firmware is 2.70 - upgraded a day after the Loco Roco demo was released

so - does this mean I can't perform the downgrade then?

that would be rather a bummer if so...
